The First Night

The wedding was one of the largest Gondor has ever seen. Gulbrandt kissed Laenaya more chastely in front of so many people though he was egged on by some of his Brethren to take her right then and there. He had never seen someone as beautiful as Laenaya in her wedding dress and belt and even the Northmen were struck with a sudden silence as she was revealed to everyone. The ceremony was traditional, the bride and groom would remain silent until asked to repeat their vows to one another. Gulbrandt wore one of Eldarion’s dark gray suits and looked quite dashing with his long, dark curls and his close cropped beard. Her sisters preceded her and tossed different colored rose petals along her path until she made it beside Gulbrandt to kneel before the priest. The feasting afterwards lasted for hours and hours, the entire street from top to bottom had been decorated so that the new couple could take their first ride as man and wife down to where they would stay on the 4th level. The boars were roasted in large metal basins over open flames and ale, apple brandy and wine made it so there wasn’t an unhappy face in the crowd. A decorated cart and mule were filled with gifts from those that attended the wedding including the Northmen and it rolled behind them heavily laden with pots and dresses, tools and things for their new home. Conleth and Serethiel as well as Eomer and Lindariel and all of their children were there. Conleth and Serethiel gave them two trained horses, a spirited White mare named Faenaur which means White Fire in Sindarin and a fast, Black stallion named Ducerth which means Night Runner.

For three days they would be expected to remain together and they would have 2 servants for the duration. It was a tear-filled event for Elessar and Nauriel and her sisters but as Gulbrandt gave his final wave to everyone he closed the door then sagged against it feeling suddenly tired and relieved that the focus and attention upon them was now over. The house was fairly large. It had several rooms, a large sitting room fully furnished, a kitchen and pantry, a privy, a dressing room and then a large bedroom with a large bed laden with more rose petals that she knew were put there by her sisters. There was wine on the counter but Gulbrandt said he had had more than his fill of food and drink though he did not appear to be in a hurry to lead her to their bedroom. She noticed he looked...nervous though he tried to hide that fact. He laughed as he took a seat on one of the loungers.

“To many people,” he said as he shook his head.

Laenaya had been extremely nervous. Before walking her down the aisle, her father had taken a few minutes to speak to her privately and it had brought tears to her eyes. She wore a beautiful long, white gown. Her hair was left down and she wore her tiara and the belt Brandt had given to her as a Bride gift. She was truly gorgeous and she was surprised by how handsome Brandt looked in Eldarion’s suit. Thankfully, the Northmen were well behaved during the ceremony, though when Brandt kissed her they got a little rambunctious and suggested some inappropriate things.

The celebration lasted for hours and everyone ate and drank and danced. Laenaya and Brandt danced together and he remembered what she had taught him and they danced together quite well and impressed everyone who was there. Laenaya was quite anxious and nervous and did not eat very much, but did have some wine, which didn’t seem to do much to calm her nerves (and her sisters and cousin did not help to ease them either).

As the celebration ended and the cart was being loaded with the gifts, Nauriel took Laenaya aside and handed her a large pouch. When Laenaya looked in she saw what appeared to be tea leaves. Her mother explained to her that this was a special kind of tea that when consumed would prevent pregnancy. She urged her daughter to take it every day until she was certain that her union to Brandt was what she wanted. Laenaya took the pouch and gave her mother a long, tearful hug before she had to leave. Nauriel held back her tears until her daughter was gone before she began to cry.

As Laenaya entered the house with Brandt she felt a sudden wave of nervousness come over her again. They were now alone. She was exhausted, but she knew what was expected. She glanced over at Brandt and could see he was just as nervous as she. She just stood there, unsure of what to do as he sat down on the couch.

“Yes...it was a lot of people.”

“We...uh...we danced well though. I remembered your lessons,” he said with a smile. He rose and assumed a dance pose. He moved a bit as if dancing with a partner and he chuckled then stopped when he was near her. “I thought for sure I’d step on your toes but you were so graceful,” he said as he reached out to touch the lace of her dress at her wrist. “So...beautiful,” he continued as his fingers rose up her wrist to her arm. “The look on my father’s face when you came out...priceless,” he added as his hand moved up to her shoulder. “I...I don’t deserve a woman like you Laenaya. I haven’t done any great deeds like your Father or mother or your Grandfather or Grandmother. I’m...I’m just a man trying to find his way in this world,” he said as he moved up behind her then touched her hair lightly. His heart began to race uncontrollably but he managed to stop his hands from shaking as he took hold of her shoulders then pressed himself up against her and took in the scent of her hair. He felt her begin to tremble and in a way that comforted him.

“I am willing to find it with you Laenaya. We can find our way together,” Brandt said as he undid the first button on her neck. Once undone he leaned down and kissed the newly exposed flesh so lightly it might tickle her. “I can not promise that we will fall in love with one another but I will show you a new land and help you to get to know a new people.” He undid another and then another kissing her neck further down with each one. He wasn’t sure of what he was doing he just did what felt right. When he reached the last button he squeezed her shoulders then took a step back.

Laenaya couldn't help but smile when Brandt began to dance with himself. For a moment she relaxed. But as he stopped and drew closer to her her heart began to race in her chest again. She felt herself begin to tremble as he reached out to touch her. She didn't move as he stepped around her. As he then began to unbutton the back of her dress she felt her heart might burst out of her chest. Then, he did something she wasn't expecting...he began to kiss her neck. She had seen her father do this to her mother, but hadn't known quite what to expect and what did happen surprised her. Her eyes closed and she felt a strange feeling start to course through her body. It caused her face to flush and her heart to begin to race in a different way. As he continued he might actually hear her moan ever so softly. Suddenly though, he stopped and stepped back. She opened her eyes and looked over at him with a slightly confused look.

"Why did you stop?"

“I uh...I don’t think it’s fair if...I think maybe you could, uh, undress me first,” he stammered. “Besides...I...I want to look at you in that dress a little bit longer...if that's alright?” he said not realizing how much he was complimenting her. He waited to see what she would do and he tried not to gulp air into his lungs. He was sweating but he didn’t seem to notice that right then. His dark eyes were focused upon her as if he were looking at something wonderful. She had his full attention.

Laenaya hesitated and felt herself begin to tremble again as she slowly approached him. She tried to remain calm, but her hands were shaking. She looked completely unsure of what to do. Finally, slowly, she reached up towards him. She stopped though, just before reaching the buttons of his coat. Instead, she gently placed her hands on his shoulders and then moved them down his chest. After a moment, she slowly moved her hands to the first button on his coat. She then looked up at him and into his eyes.

When her hand touched his chest she would feel how hard his heart thumped against her hand. As she looked at him, looked into his eyes, her eyes were so wonderful to look at he decided, he leaned into her and then kissed her cheek then lightly kissed her jawline. She paused what she was doing so he shifted to lightly kiss her lips. After the first kiss she seemed to lean a bit toward him. He pulled back to look into her eyes again and found that her cheeks were flushed. He kissed her again more deeply then he reached up to take her face in his hands as his kisses came much more passionately. Again he felt how soft her lips were and felt hers kissing him back. For a while, he did not know how long they kissed like that and noticed that her arms had gone around his neck and that his pressed and rubbed up and down her back. Feeling that the moment was right he paused and shifted to take her up into his arms. Slowly and carefully he stepped into their bedroom though she continued to seek out his lips with her own seeming to want more of he had denied her when he picked her up. He set her down slowly then once more took a step back.

Slowly his hands moved to his coat and he slid it off his shoulders until it fell behind him onto the floor. His eyes never left hers as her own hands began on her dress. He untied his shirt to loosen it then lowered his hands to his waist to slowly tackle the buttons that held his pants up.

Laenaya could feel just how hard his heart was beating in his chest. Somehow it made her feel better knowing he was just as scared as she was. As she looked into his eyes, he slowly leaned down to kiss her cheek and then her jawline. He was gentle and his kisses were soft. She closed her eyes and leaned into him slightly and she then felt him kiss her lips. As he pulled back, she opened her eyes to look up into his. She could feel something shifting between them and could suddenly see desire in his eyes. He kissed her again, this time much more passionately and she closed her eyes and kissed him back. She wrapped her arms around his neck and she felt him pull her body closer to his.

After a moment he shifted and she felt his arms go under her legs as he scooped her up. She was still very nervous, but she found herself still wanting his kisses. He stepped with her into their bedroom and then gently placed her down. She watched as he began to remove his coat and without truly realizing what she was doing she began to remove her dress. After he took off his coat and shirt he moved down to unbutton his pants. She felt her face flush and she began to tremble again for while she knew what naked men looked like she had never seen one before.

His boots came off easily and then he straightened as he shucked his legs out of his pants. He stood before her allowing her eyes to look at him in his nakedness. He was already erect for her, he had been since they began. When her body was revealed to him, it was long in coming he waited, though it was difficult, as their eyes took a moment to see what the other really looked like. It both scared and excited her at the same time. She actually wanted to touch it, but she didn't. She finished undressing as he watched her with eager eyes. Laenaya was thin, but toned. Laenaya moved to lie down on the bed and watched as he climbed into the bed with her. They both were laying on their sides facing one another. Her heart was still beating hard in her chest as he looked into her eyes. She felt his hand upon her neck and then it moved down to her shoulder. He was thankful that her iron grip loosened and he pushed himself in the rest of the way. There had been some resistance at first and he guessed it had hurt at least a little. However as everything seemed to feel...slippier and warmer he found that it felt...very nice inside of her. He laid down upon her fully, his lips finding hers again as he felt her legs slide around him, the heels of her feet locking onto the backs of his calves as he started to...move. He kissed her neck and then lowered further to take her left breast into his mouth. He wanted to do that to from all of the talk he had heard about it. A short time later she lay next to him on the bed. They were both breathing heavily and her heart was still racing. Her body glistened with beads of sweat, but her body was slowly cooling. She looked over at him after a moment.

"Was that alright?"

He was surprised at how sweaty they had become. His breaths came in pants, he had come fairly quickly though he had no way of judging anything. He had no experience in that regard. It felt wonderful though. The tight pressure, the building up of...whatever was inside of him. Hen the sweet, wonderful release. “It was wonderful...you were wonderful Laenaya,” he said softly as he rolled onto his back. “It looked like it hurt a little for you,” he said as he touched himself then brought his hand up to his face. The blood had surprised him. “Oh...uh, I’m bleeding,” he said and he got up quickly to get a damp cloth to see where the wound was. He didn’t want to get their bed bloody. “I don’t understand how that could have happened and then he saw her. “Oh...maybe I’m not bleeding,” he said as he pointed down to her legs. He went and got a wet cloth anyway.

Laenaya was relieved that he had been pleased. Everything had happened far too quickly for her to have an orgasm, but it had felt good. As he touched himself and brought his hand up she saw the blood on his fingers. She wasn't sure why he would be bleeding, but then it became evident that it wasn't him. Looking down she realized it was her. It wasn't a lot, but she became embarrassed and her cheeks turned red. She quickly got up and took the wet cloth and went into the bathroom. She closed the door to have some privacy while she cleaned herself up. She stayed in there a few minutes before finally coming out.

"I'm sorry..." She said becoming embarrassed again.

“You don’t have to apologize Laenaya, i will make us a snack and get us something to drink...you, my dear, just get back into that bed!” he quipped and laughed as he stepped away. He wanted more of her tonight and he was not tired anymore.

He brought them a plate of cheese, grapes still on the vine, almonds he thought they were and a small bowl of sunflower seeds. He handed her a cup of white wine then toasted to her cup. “To you Laenaya for your grace and beauty,” he said softly then took a sip of the wine. It was sweet and cool on the tongue he found as he sat down beside her, it was then that he remembered what he had been told about virgins. And he felt stupid for not knowing it before. “I think that is supposed to happen the first time, it won’t feel like that now,” he said. “I mean...uh, it should feel...better?” he said in an unsure tone. Better would have to do with him. He had seen his father and mother together more than once. Tents are usually small and their activities had kept him awake. Someday he’d try some of what they did with her but certainly not now. Her body was something new and wonderful to him. He lounged on the bed near her and he fed her a grape with his fingers. She took it hesitantly and they he laughed and smiled at her. Now that it was just them in the bed he found he did not know exactly what to say next.

“Did you like it when I was...uh, sucking on your breasts?” he asked. “I enjoyed doing that he admitted to her. “It is alright that I tell you these things?” he asked not knowing if he should keep things like that silent. If there is something you like or you want, you have but to ask Laenaya. Laenaya moved back into the bed as he went to get some food and wine. She had not eaten much at dinner because she had been too nervous about her first time with Brandt, but now that it was over she found she was quite hungry, though she still ate daintily. She accepted a glass of wine and took a sip. The coolness of it felt good and it made her relax even more. She looked over at him slightly when he mentioned that that was supposed to happen. She nodded a little because she knew that as well. It had still been surprising though. However, it was done and she knew that from now on it wouldn’t hurt as it had, at least she hoped not.

For a little while they just lay there quietly together. He pulled off a grape from the vine and held it out for her to eat. She blushed a little, but took it from his fingers with her teeth. They both began to laugh almost immediately and that seemed to break the slight awkwardness that had begun to set in. As he began to question her about what she had liked during the act she felt her face flush again. She knew that they were married, but talking about such intimate things was still very new to her.

“Yes...I did like that,” she admitted, almost embarrassedly. “I...I don’t really know what I want yet,” she added. She didn’t know enough yet to tell him, but what he had done she had quite liked. She became quiet a moment before looking at him slightly. “Does it hurt? I mean when it’s...big?”

It took a moment for him to understand exactly what she was asking. Their way of talking was sometimes difficult to get but then he nodded. “Not exactly. I mean, I was so excited about...everything, I felt embarrassed that I was ready right away. Seeing you though...seeing your body, I couldn’t do anything about that. It did hurt a little after a while. Like a little ache I guess. When I ...uh, when it all came out though, it felt very good and the ache was gone,” he said and he flushed again as talking about that excited him again. He wasn’t all the way hard but he saw that she saw and flushed even brighter. He decided to just ignore it but then he saw her nipples grow erect to. He tilted his head as he looked at them and noticed she saw him looking and she blushed.

“All this blushing and feeling embarrassed I imagine will go away in time,” he said as he looked down at the bed. He could control it...but it was obvious now that he could not and then he drew his eyes back up to her face again.

Laenaya felt herself blush when he talked about her body and how it excited him. She couldn’t help but notice that it was starting to become hard again. Did he want her again? The thought of doing it again, this time without any pain, only pleasure, excited her and she realized for the first time that when that happened her nipples became erect. She found that she wanted him too and there was no way of denying it. There was a few moments of awkward silence with neither of them making a move. The next two days was more of the same. The only clothes they bothered to wear were those that they could get off quickly. Either he was on her or she was on him. O the evening of the third day they helped one another get dressed to attend a more intimate dinner with her family. He was nervous but she did much to help him get over that. At the table he didn’t say much, not with her mother glaring at him whenever he did look up. He hadn’t seen Laenaya glaring back at her mother silently admonishing her for acting like that toward her new husband. It was Narisa that broke the silence.

“Is it true that there are large Snow Cats in Rhovannion, Gulbrandt?” she asked as if she really wanted to know. His head shifted up to look at her and he managed a smile and nodded. “Oh yes Nar-isa,” he said awkwardly. “They are hard to spot in the mountains and in the snow drifts. They can get to be 5-6 feet long with a tail of 2-3 feet long and weigh as much as 500 pounds,” he said as he remembered he had one of their claws on a leather strap he wore as a necklace sometimes. He fished it out and held it in between two fingers. “They have massive, razor sharp claws and long teeth,” he added then he wound the cord around the claw then tossed it to her. “A gift Nar-isa, I killed that one when I was 12, my first,” he added then cleared his throat and looked back down to his plate when he saw Nauriel’s eyes on him again.

Laenaya lost track of time and what day it was. What clothes they did put on didn't stay on for very long and so they eventually just gave up on them. They had quickly gotten over any embarrassment and Laenaya initiated love making almost as often as he did. In the throes of such passion she forgot propriety and became a completely different woman. He had ignited a passionate fire within her and over the three days it only grew in its intensity.

Laenaya became rather vocal during their sessions, especially towards the end. They had tried many different positions and she enjoyed them all for different reasons. They quickly realized that by changing positions several times it delayed his release and allowed her to get there first.

Finally, on the evening of the third day they dressed for dinner and ventured out of their cocoon. Dinner was slightly awkward as her mother wouldn't stop glaring at Brandt. Thankfully, her cousin came to the rescue by asking him about Snow Cats. She had heard about these animals and silently hoped she would never see one, though she admired the tooth he gave to Narisa.

"I want one!" Kressara, the youngest, said when she saw it.

Brandt looked up and could only offer her a condolence. “Alas, I have no others but I tell you what Kress-er-a,” he stammered and looked to Laenaya for approval then back to the young girl. “I will plan a hunt in your honor and I will save an entire paw for you,” he promised. “So you can give all 5 claws to whomever you wish,” he added.

“Queen Nauriel...is there some insult I have done to you?” He said finally having enough of her glares. He kept his face down and expression even and he blushed but he continued. “If I have offended you in some way, please speak it so I can make amends. As you are my near mother to displease you is a great dishonor,” he said as meekly as he could. He felt Laenaya’s hand squeeze his and he that alone gave him strength.

Kressara beamed with pleasure at the thought of him having an entire hunt in her honor. She couldn’t wait to get the claws and wanted to ask him when he would have the hunt, but one look from her father made her hold her tongue. She was still young and learning proper manners. She often got overly excited and often had to be reminded to calm herself. She nodded to her father, with whom she was very close, and said nothing. As the youngest, she looked up to her brother and sisters and tried to be like them. She was adored by her father who often let her get away with things he probably shouldn’t.

Nauriel hadn’t realized she had been glaring at Brandt. She had thought she was just...looking at him. However, when he called her out on it she felt the tips of her ears turn pink with a little embarrassment. She glanced at her husband before looking back at him.

“May I speak with you privately?”

If he agreed, she would lead him out of the dining room to a private area. She did not want to talk with him in front of her children.

“I do apologize Gulbrandt,” she said honestly. “I am not normally like this. To be perfectly honest the thought of Laenaya going to live in the North with your family upsets me. I always imagined she would live in Minas Tirith after she married. It will be difficult to visit her or for her to come here and that makes me sad. Laenaya did this to prevent war, as I know you did as well, but I want to make sure that she is going to be taken care of and treated with the respect she deserves.”

He thought much about what she said and was silent for a moment before he spoke. He did not look her in the eye though. To do so could initiate a challenge to her authority. He had no intention of doing that, especially with his near mother. “I had heard of your adventures near mother Nauriel,” he decided to use her family title instead of her official one. “You left your home and your family to seek adventure. You did so without permission or even telling Lord Conleth or my near Grandmother where you were going. I realize that Laenaya did not make that same choice but adventure and the unknown still wait for her just the same. She is no less capable I think than you were then. I can not ensure her safety from what I do not know or can not foresee. I can however promise you though, as she is my Cheile, dawn sister and near daughter to Hakon, she will always have a place of honor in any hold she enters. Her name when spoken will be spoken with reverence among my people. Her safety is of utmost importance to my people near mother. For she is the binding that will bring a lasting peace to us all. I am not like my father. He is an angry man who has endured much in his life. I see the wrongs that others do not and together with Laenaya we will turn their hearts toward the light if it is possible,” Brandt told her. “However,” he said in a harder tone. “If it is your wish to deny me her hand that is your right near mother.
