“I know you were. And last time it was something else that put you in sickbay. I know you likely saved the ship, but thinking that I’ll never see you again,” he said as he took hold of her hand. “I just need to know something Elyse. Is this what you want? This life? Danger around every corner?” He asked.

Elyse looked at Leonard and she took his hand into her own. “If I had thought there was any other way of stopping that machine I would have done it. This was the only way to save you and everyone else I care about.” She was quiet a moment before speaking again as a few tears came to her eyes. “You were the thought I clung to when I flipped that switch....”

Leonard leaned forward and kissed Elyse softly. The beds weren’t big enough to lay next to her or he would have. “I love you so much Elyse,” he said softly as he looked into her eyes. “I don’t frighten easily but you scared me to death. And you wonder why I drink so much,” he said. His face Looked serious but she’d know he was making a joke. Trying to make her smile.

Elyse had rather hoped that Leonard had not known what was going on. She knew he had been off duty and she hadn't wanted him to see what she was doing. Clearly, that hadn't been the case. Thankfully, it had ended well...but it very well may not have. She did, however, smile at his joke. "I love you too Leonard." She heard the sickbay door open again and she glanced over and saw Jim and Spock walk in.

McCoy glanced that way then sighed. "I'll be right here, always," he said then kissed her again and stood up. He gave her a wink then headed to his office. Kirk and Spock moved up to her. Kirk smiled at her. "So you managed to destroy one of Starfleet's most powerful ships. What do you to say for yourself Mr," he said.

Elyse looked at Jim and gave him a little smile. “Well, first of all I’m not a ‘Mr.’ Second of all, I’m not sorry, and third of all I would do it again if I had to.”

Kirk shared a look with Spock. "How are you feeling? McCoy says you're going to be fine. But I am going to keep you off duty for a few days," he said and he say her eyebrows draw up. "Relax, use the holodeck. Talk McCoy into taking a few days off with you," Kirk said. "Reflect on what happened Elyse," he said.

Elyse wasn’t sure how she felt about taking a few days off. However, she could tell she wasn’t going to get a choice. She looked at Jim and sighed a little. “I don’t know if I want to reflect on what happened. I’m afraid if I think about it too much....”

"All the more reason to take a few days," Spock said. "Keeping it all inside is not going to make it all go away. Though that might seem odd coming from a Vulcan," He said. "Take the days Elyse, I want you back ready to go," Kirk said. "Get McCoy to take them with you if you can," Kirk said. "He needs a break too but..you know how stubborn he is," he said. He was certain she knew that. She was married to him after all.

Elyse sighed a little, but nodded. “I suppose a few days off would be good for us both.” She then smiled a little. “Yes, I do know how stubborn he can be.”
