Back to the Mansion (July 1991)

Hank sighed as he looked at Isabella. He had already seen Serena and she had been a beautiful little girl. The thought of Isabella not having more wonderful children because of this made him sad. Logan said nothing after he heard the results and might as well have been a stone. “Isabella..” Hank said as if he felt sick. “75.8 percent chance...to be specific,” He said. “I’m sorry if that wasn’t what you wanted to hear,” Hank said. “How bout that drink now?” Logan whispered as he stepped up to her.

Isabella sighed as she sat in Logan's room with him and took a sip of some whiskey. She finally looked at him. "This isn't a deal breaker for me in terms of having more children. I just...if they all turn out to be as potentially powerful as Serena then that's a lot to deal with and unfortunately at this point in time the world isn't as accepting of mutants as they should be. Of course Tony and I would love them unconditionally, but the rest of the world...that's my fear."

Logan just shook his head. Did he really just hear her right? Logan wanted to be Isabella’s friend but he didn’t understand her right then. “You mean like how you reacted to Mystique? Her mutations are right there out in the open. She has to hide to live a normal life or to be accepted. Hank knows how she feels,” He said and he doubted she had seen Hank as ‘Beast’. “You and Tony are out there and everyone knows who you are. You’re respected but I think its because you’re human. I don’t think you can appreciate what mutants are going through right now. Mutant registration is being talked about again so distruct is on the rise again,” He said. “If Serena was just human, would you care as much about Mutant registration then?” Logan asked

Isabella sighed as Logan brought up Mystique. “Ok, I admit that I was surprised. I mean I don’t see people who look that way everyday, but she didn’t give me any time to process what I was seeing. She took my silence as disapproval and that wasn’t the case.”

She took another sip of the whiskey and looked at Logan. “To be honest, I don’t know what my feelings would be about the Mutant Registration Act if Serena wasn’t a mutant. But what matters is that it matters to me now. The one thing you need to know about me is that when I take on something I take it on fully and head on.”

“But think Isabella, what if people ‘paused’ every time they got a look at you. What if they doubted or grew concerned on a whim. Mutants go through that every day. Certainly not all mutants are good people but neither are humans. Your reaction is probably one of the better ones so dont be too hard on yourself,” Logan said with a smile. “People want us to register ourselves like humans register weapons. As if we dont have minds of our own. There are mutants, powerful mutants who are vehemently against mutant registration and will harm people to fight it,” Logan said. “The X-men were created to help those who can not help themselves, human or mutant. But im not certain how many of us will continue that if mutant registration becomes a thing,” He said. “What can the Starks of the world do to help us stop this?” He asked.

Isabella looked at Logan. “We can fight it. And we will fight it. Tony has a lot of influence and knows quite a few people in the government. We won’t let this pass...believe me.”

She spoke to Logan a while longer before she headed back to the Tower. She smiled when she saw Steve holding Serena. “How has she been?”
