On A Need To Know Basis

Serena sat down and looked at her mother. “We’ll be fine. I promise. I think there’s just some stuff we need to work out between us. I know you’re concerned but there’s no need to be...really. I will accept any punishment for what I did during the mission. I’m really sorry it happened.”

“Mistakes happen Serena but could you explain what happened?” she asked. When Serena did her mother did not looked please. “So even though Peter said abort you stayed. What good was he even being there if you were going to ignore him like that? You were a team out there and you must rely on one another’s judgement. Trust is a slippery slope. If your teammate doesn’t trust you nor you him than this is what happens. I know you wanted to complete the mission and you did and we can use that intelligence but you also put yourself and Peter at risk and made our job alot harder when we assault the base. The scans were the main objective but you ignored the conditions of the mission,” she said sternly and then smiled.

“But you both returned unharmed and that's what's important. This base is Hydra’s last in North America and both you and Peter were a apart of bringing them down, Tony and I are very proud of you,” She said and nearly beamed at her. “I made a lasagna, get a bite and some rest. Logan and Natalya will be training you and Peter tomorrow morning on team tactics,” she said.

Serena left the study and put away her suit. She then walked back down to the room she and Peter shared. She heard the shower running and she walked into the bathroom and took off her clothes. The stepped into the shower with Peter and looked at him a moment. She then wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him quite deeply and passionately.

It was safe to say that Peter had alot of tension and pent up aggression toward Serena and he made passionate love to her right there in the shower. His strong arms were far stronger than a human’s arms and he held her easily up against the shower wall. After they dried off a little they just laid there together in their towels on their bed. Making love was something they did well together and it did help bring them closer most of the time.

“I don't want to fight with you Serena,” Peter said softly as he gently kissed the exposed flesh of her left shoulder. “When we argue its like the entire world is on fire. I don’t like it,” he said.

“Why am I the one that stops everything from happening? Why me? Out of all of here, me? Does that even make sense to you?” he said as he lightly traced his fingers up her thigh. He could feel the lines of her muscles there. Serena had strong, sexy legs and the feel of the lotion she put on made her skin feel extra silky when she got out of the shower. That and it smelled nice to.

Serena felt a little more relaxed after they made love. The way Peter made love to her made her toes curl and her nails dig into his back. Afterwards, they got out of the shower and Serena put some lotion on her arms and legs before laying down with Peter on their bed. She closed her eyes when she felt Peter kiss the exposed flesh of her shoulder. She heard what he said and she was quiet for a moment before speaking gently.

“I don’t know Peter,” she told him honestly, “but you are. It’s really difficult for me to explain how I know this, but I do.”

Peter shifted and gently turned her face to face him. “Could you...please try?” he asked her softly as his eyes searched hers. His hand moved back to the back of her neck and he rubbed her cheek with his thumb. He had a very serious look on his face and she had his full attention.

Serena looked at Peter and sighed softly. She had wanted to avoid telling him the truth, but she couldn’t anymore. He needed to know...he deserved to know.

“Alright, I’ll tell you,” she finally said. “I fear this may ruin our relationship but I will tell you anyway. The entire world is at stake Peter. I’m talking complete and total devastation. I know this because I have already lived through it. I have memories of a past life where this all happened. I was sent back in time with my memories in tact to ensure this doesn’t happen again. You are the key to this. I’m not sure how, but I know it. I know this all sounds crazy but it’s true Peter.”

Peter thought about what Serena said and for a long time he didn’t say anything. She could see his eyes as he tried to figure out how that could happen. Peter was extremely intelligent and his mind worked quickly once he set it on a problem. After a time his eyes came back to the now and to her.

“Why would this ruin our relationship? I would think the destruction of our world could accomplish that though I’d still die loving you,” he said softly. “And its a catch22. Do I do something to affect the change or do I ‘not’ do something. Its that causality paradox that always comes with traveling through time. And you did live this other life?” When she nodded he frowned. “And it was not with me was it?” he asked. When she shook her head he frowned again. “Were you with Gambit?” He asked but then put a finger over her mouth. “Forget I asked that,” he said with a small grin.

“Well, I’m with you now,” he said as he shifted his hand over to her lips. He smiled as he lightly touched them with his fingertips “Do these long to me?” he asked playfully. When she smiled and nodded he kissed them and shifted his hand down to her thigh then up to her center. He smiled again. “Does this belong to me to?” he asked playfully as he slid his hand over her. When she nodded had kissed her once more then opened her towel up and climbed on top of her. They didn’t make love again but it was nice to be so close to her, if only for a little while.
