Amara had been close several times but she was always one step behind. She had been chasing Jerik, An Altered Sulabon agent for weeks. During her search she had taken down one of his brethren, Lucar and before he died he had told her that they were supposed to kill a man named James T. Kirk, A Starfleet Officer. Hearing that name as someone with a price on his head had terrified Amara. She redoubled her efforts to find Jerik but he all but disappeared when Section 31 had trapped him on Corvus 5.

Luthor Sloan, the leader of their cell found out through his Starfleet connections that the Enterprise had been attacked by Sulabon ships. 9 members of the crew were injured including Captain Kirk who had been the most seriously injured. Unfortunately Amara couldn’t find out how badly but she knew where the Enterprise was going to be. It was headed to Yorktown Station. Instead of always being behind Jerik, she decided she’d try getting ahead of him. Natasha decided to get her to the station but she and the other agents had bigger fish to fry, or at least, they thought they did.

Yorktown Station was bigger than any station Amara had ever seen. It held millions of souls and was the most advanced station starfleet ever built.

--------------

McCoy rolled Kirk off of the shuttle. Beside them Commander Elyse Turner walked and carried Kirk’s leather duffle bag. Kirk had said he could hold it on his lap but she insisted. Kirk had pushed her out of the way just before the conduit blew. She and Kirk had followed the Sulabon into a maintenance section during the attack and Kirk saw what he was doing just in the nick of time though he had been injured when it exploded.

The enterprise was in the midst of repairs and the majority of the crew were going to be busy helping the maintenance personnel. Spock and Scarlett had hoped to get a bit of alone time on the station but so far they were knee deep in diagnostics down in engineering. Spock held a tricorder as Scarlett adjusted the flow of power. Men and women crawled around Engineering as Scotty directed the repairs. The Enterprise had taken on a new Officer to replace Ensign Torhov that had resigned his Commission. Ensign Sofia Vasquez was in a jefferies tube. She was very much hands on and she knew her way around an engine room.

“I think Scotty’s in love,” McCoy said. “That new Ensign, he doesn’t stop talking about her. “What can I say Bones, Scotty appreciates...efficiency,:” Kirk said trying to be funny. They headed out of the bay toward the main Station. It opened up suddenly to a huge, massive open space. Kirk looked around in awe. “Look at it Bones, Its like New York City in space,” Kirk said. McCoy rolled him onto a tram and Kirk winced when he was jostled. The tram took off and then a few minutes later it stopped right at Kirk’s hotel. All the bridge officers were staying here until power was restored to Deck 5 on the Enterprise. Elyse opened the door and McCoy rolled him inside. The room was very nice and Elyse set his bag down on the large bed then moved and opened the window blinds to let in some light.

“Thanks Bones, I’ll manage,” Kirk said. “I’ll be back tomorrow to take you to medical,” he said. Kirk saw Elyse’s look and he sighed. “Elyse...I’ll be alright, Bones...go, take her someplace fun,” Kirk suggested. McCoy was going to banter further with him but he decided to let Kirk get some rest. As soon as the door closed and they were in the hall he saw more tears fall from Elyse’s face.

“Elyse...he’s going to be fine,” McCoy assured her.

Elyse's guilt was eating away at her. Kirk could have been killed in the effort to save her life. Thankfully, he was going to be alright, but that didn't stop her from worrying about him. She liked Captain Kirk. He was certainly not like her father, but she preferred him that way. He bent the rules at times, but he cared greatly for his crew and was willing to give his own life for theirs. In her mind that made him a great man.

Unfortunately, the ship had been damaged, but luckily they had been able to get it to the Yorktown Starbase for the needed repairs. Kirk had tried to insist that he could stay and help, but Leonard had simply begun to roll him off the ship while Elyse carried his bag. They got him to his hotel room and got him set up. Elyse was reluctant to leave, but Kirk insisted he would be fine. Little did they know that Kirk was not alone in his room.

Elyse allowed Leonard to comfort her as they walked down the hallway away from his hotel room. She and Leonard were still very much in love. They spent as much time together as they could and the subject of sharing quarters had come up, although they had not broached the subject with the Captain yet. Elyse wiped away her tears and then looked up through the Yorktown. "I was born here you know. My father made it just in time apparently."

Sofia had not been on the Enterprise long, but she was getting to know the ship very well. Sofia might have been young, but she knew what she was doing and talking about and she quite liked working with Scotty. He could make her laugh and they worked well together. "This could all take weeks to fix," she said as she continued working.

Amara watched McCoy and Elyse help James into the hotel room. She had gotten the hotel guest information and had found out what room he was going to be in. She had then let herself into the room to wait for him. She was back in a dark corner and none of them knew she was there. She found herself growing upset seeing James as injured as he was and she vowed she would make the Sulabons pay for what they had done. Her biggest concern right now though was Jerik and the price on James' head.

Kirk had rolled himself over to the window to look out. Amara stepped out from the shadows and over to the mini bar. "Well, you look like a man who could use a stiff drink," she said.

“I do...I’m your doctor, remember?” McCoy said light heartedly. He was trying to cheer her up. I was looking at the list of recent changes to the station. Did you know they have a Holo Arcade? We could go horseback riding or make love on a beach, “ he said. “They say it’s as real as being there,” he said. “I think you need a little downtime...I won’t say rest because your not gettin that,” he said with a grin.

——-

Kirk’s head snapped to where he heard the clinking of glasses and her voice. She had startled him. “Ya know you could just call like a normal person,” he said. It had been over 8 months since he last saw her and she didn’t look a bit different. He felt oddly embarrassed that he could not receive her properly. His body certainly reacted to her. And that made him feel even worse. He accepted the glass. “Thank you,” he said solemnly. Obviously he was not himself or he’d likely have her doing something very naughty to him by now. He didn’t even really look at her.

“Are you here on business? Or did you come to see me?” Kirk asked and this time he did look at her face. He looked...sad and withdrawn. Certainly not the Kirk she had left 8 months ago. “How’ve...you been Amara?” he asked.

Elyse did smile a little over at Leonard as she thought about the Holo Arcade. "That does sound like fun...but maybe I should go back and check on the repair progress...." Elyse took her job very seriously, but Kirk had told Leonard to keep her away from the ship as much as possible. She had been overworking herself in the last few months.

------------------------------

Amara frowned as she looked at James. She had never seen James depressed before...but she was seeing it now. She could tell he was embarrassed about being injured and she put down the two glasses and moved over to him. She pulled a chair over so they were on the same level with each other and she reached over and gently touched the side of his face as she looked into his eyes. "James...it's me. You can talk to me. I'm here for you." She decided not to tell him just yet what she needed to tell him. She wanted them to have a few minutes to reconnect. "I've been...miserable without you."

“As your doctor Elyse, I outrank you. I prescribe a couple of days of relaxation. And I aim to see you get it,” he said. “If you want to be alone, I can leave you be for a while,” he said as he looked at her. He hoped that wasn’t what she wanted though but he wouldn’t crowd her either.

———-

Kirk let what she said filter into his head. Kirk smiled at her touch and oddly, what she said did make him feel better. Amara was no longer in starfleet. “I’m happy you’re here Amara. I’ve Missed you too. We didn’t get to say goodbye,” Kirk said. A just up and transported her. There was no goodbyes that day.

“I’d like to lay down on the bed,” Kirk said and he accepted her help. He propped himself up with pillows. The wound was his right leg. He was getting a new knee and he was lucky he didn’t lose his leg. At least laying like this they could make out and talk if not a bit more if she was up for it. The problem was, was he? He knew he could be talked into something but he felt...awkward and didn’t know why.

“No one you know was hurt. Besides the ship. But Scotty is on it,” he said. He sipped his drink and held Amara’s hand.

Elyse stopped walking and pulled Leonard to a stop as well. She moved closer to him and wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. She slowly pulled back after a moment and looked into his eyes. “The last thing I want is for you to leave me alone.”

——————————

Amara helped James up onto the bed and propped his leg up. It was only fitting that she take care of him after he had taken care of her when they were last together. She handed him his drink and she settled in next to him on the bed with her drink. She felt him take her hand and feeling his touch was comforting to her after not having seen him for the last 8 months. She had hated just being snapped away like she had been without being able to say goodbye at least. That had been very hard on her.

She took a sip of her drink and then smiled a little when James mentioned Scotty and the ship. “Well she is the love of his life,” she teased with a grin, not knowing about Sofia.

McCoy loved how affectionate Elyse was. And had never once denied her. He kissed her back and loved how she draped herself upon him. “How about we head to your room and you let me remind you how much I love you?” He said. “We can check out the station later,” McCoy said onto her ear.

———

“Well, we have a new engineer, Ensign Sofia Vasquez. She very good and very attractive,” he said. Who knows what could happe. With them crawling around the maintenance bays,” Kirk said as he took a sip of his drink. Between Amara being there and the drink, Kirk was beginning to calm down. He looked over at her.

“Can you stay? I mean, I want you to stay,” Kirk said honestly. It was hard not to indulge with her when she was this close to him. He wanted her to kiss him and never stop but he didn’t tell her that. He really needed her right then. The thought of being alone now just didn’t compute for him.

Having gone through a near death experience so recently, Elyse didn't want to be alone. She needed Leonard...needed him to remind her how alive she still was. "Ok," was all she said and all she needed to say. They quickly headed towards her room and Leonard activated the 'Do Not Disturb' feature.

-------------------------------------------

Amara raised an eyebrow when James told her about Sofia. "Wow, a woman that might replace the Enterprise in Scotty's heart. I never would have imagined that," she said as she took another sip of her drink.

She looked over at James when she heard what he said and she leaned over and put down her drink. She then did the same for James. She then moved closer to him and leaned down and kissed him. She felt him kiss her back and they kissed for a minute before she gently pulled back and looked down into his eyes. There were tears in her own. "When I heard what had happened...I've never felt anything close to what I felt in that moment. I was so scared James. I just wanted to get to you as quickly as possible. I'm not going anywhere...even after your better and the ship is repaired...I'm not leaving. I'm staying." They began to kiss again and the kiss started to deepen, but Amara knew she needed to tell him and she pulled back again. "James, there's something you need to know. Jerik, an altered Sulabon agent, is after you. There is a price on your head."

Kirk just looked at her for a moment. He knew about the Sulabon. Knew about their 'enhancements'. On a mission to Risa they had discovered one that had been hiding on the ship. He was killed and McCoy had a chance to study one during an autopsy. He had significant alterations and had been particularly difficult to catch, even on their own ship. Having someone, 'An agent? she said' After him made alarm gongs go off in his head. The problem was though, right now? His leg hurt, he was going to have surgery tomorrow and Amara was right there. He hadn't seen the woman for 8 months! Kirk enjoyed being a Starfleet Captain. He cared about his crew but he 'loved' Amara. He could tell she was about to say more and he didn't want to hear it right then. He put a finger over her lips.

"Right now Amara, I just want you. I just want to be with you. Tomorrow is tomorrow," Kirk said. He wasn't certain he could get up to much right then but he certainly wanted to find out how much. He found a strategically placed zipper right above the middle of her breasts with his fingers. He probed around until it shifted for him to be able to grab it. Slowly he pulled it down as he looked into her eyes. She'd saw the savage desire he had in that look. "8...months," Kirk reminded her softly as her jacket parted. She had a shirt underneath but his eyes fastened to her breasts though she had a protective bra on her her shirt.

Section 31 clothing was not only for looks, it had purpose. The jacket and pants were anti ballistic and ablative to stop kinetic and energy weapons to a degree. The jacket could stop knife punctures and the bra reacted against hard blows to the chest. Her boots could absorb impacts and cushion long falls or jumps. There were supports in her pants at her knees that helped with that as well and her jacket collar, using replicator technology could form a helmet with nearly 30 minutes of breathable air. Her jacket at the wrists could form gloves and her outfit could seal itself in a vacuum. She had glasses she could pull out and wear that allowed her to see in different light spectrums. They also worked with the built in tricorder and communicator that were inside her jacket on the inside of her wrists. She had an extendable knife in her boot and a collapsible mono-filament short sword in her belt. She had a hold out phaser that could be set to stun, damage or vaporize an enemy or physical structure. She also knew that Section 31 was experimenting with genetic enhancements as well but those were still in the early stages of development.

It wasn't long before she was naked and he was pleasuring her with his fingers and his mouth on her left nipple. She touched him too and before long she was on top of him moving gently as she kissed him. It had been so long and Kirk wanted her now. Suggesting to him to wait until after the surgery just wasn't in it and they made love to one another, long into the night.

The next morning he let her push him in the wheel chair to Starfleet Medical. McCoy was there ready to go and Doctor Ester Wendall, a specialist was there. She was the reason they waited to do the surgery and McCoy was surprised to see Amara there. Kirk told McCoy about what Amara said about Jerik and so McCoy scanned everyone that would be in the room during the surgery. Amara was allowed to wait outside in the hall though McCoy had informed Spock of the situation and he sent Nathan and another Security officer, Crewman Callista Friedrich to help keep an eye out.

Nathan was very happy to see Amara again. He liked her and thought they were becoming friends before all of the spy stuff went down. He treated her now as if it never happened.

"I've heard of Sloan, he used to be a Marine...a Colonel I think," Nathan said. "We hear bits and pieces about what you...what Section 31 is up to but I never thought you'd become one of their agents. I'm just glad you're back," Nathan said fondly but he was one of those people that never said untoward things about anyone. He was kind, respectful, handsome and very boring which was why most women relegate him to the friend zone.

Amara wouldn't know but Nathan has been instrumental into Ensign Rodriguez's recovery. After the assault she had been working with the ship's Psychologist to resume her duties. She still would not leave the ship and would not leave her room without Nathan. Crowds, especially if there are several males around made her nervous. Nathan was the only person she allowed to physically touch her but it was unclear if there was more to their relationship. Nathan was not one to talk about such things.

Yorktown Station Stardate 2259.84 Empty Re: Yorktown Station Stardate 2259.84

Although it had been eight months since she and James had last seen each other, it had been twelve months since they had last been intimate. Now though, they were back together and Amara wasn't going to let anyone separate them again. She would do her job, but she would do it from on board the Enterprise. She and James had been apart for too long and they needed one another. Their deep love gave each other strength and they balanced one another. The crew of the Enterprise was her family...but James was the love of her life.

They slept in each other's arms and the morning came too quickly for Amara. She helped James back into the chair and she pushed him to Starfleet Medical, the same location where Elyse had been born. Amara was concerned about Jerik and she felt better when McCoy scanned everyone that was going to be in the operating room with James. She would sit outside the only door in and out and guard it. She was pleasantly surprised when Nathan and Callista Friedrich were also sent to keep watch. Amara was glad that Nathan didn't hate her. She considered him a friend and was glad he had forgiven her.

"I never thought I would be a Section 31 agent either," she admitted. She was quiet a moment before looking over at him. "To be honest though I would rather still be a member of Starfleet, but I'll take what I can get after what I did."

Yorktown Station Stardate 2259.84 Empty Re: Yorktown Station Stardate 2259.84

"If its any consolation, I think Starfleet made a mistake in forcing you to resign your commission. They lost a good officer," he said but then decided not to talk about that further.

The surgery took about 2 and a half hours and McCoy came out and took off his mask. He was in red, starfleet surgery garb. "Well, I think the surgery went well. With the accelerated healing working I'd say he'll be on his feet in a few days," he said. McCoy doubted that Kirk would care though. He knew what he and Amara were doing. She'd likely keep him in bed during that time. He wouldn't mind if Elyse keep him in bed as well but she was supervising the repairs alongside Spock and Scarlett.

----------------

Spock and Scarlett had spent the last 16 hours working. Once she had sat down on the bed, Spock had to help her get her boots off. She didn't seem to have the energy for it. He closed the blinds and helped her out of her clothes. He noticed she didn't bother with a night shirt and tiredly crawled toward her pillow in just her panties. He ofcourse was not so tired And seeing her naked breasts had sparked a desire in him. He didn't say anything though and just climbed into bed with her.

----------------

Scotty and Vasquez had finally taken a break. They decided on an old fashioned diner kind of place for breakfast before they got a few hours of sleep. It looked like something from the middle of the 20th century to Scotty. He ordered coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon and strawberries with cream. Sofia had fairly pale skin for someone of Spanish descent and though he had never said anything, her accent was damn sexy. Scotty was more of a traditional Scottish man by all accounts but he certainly was warming up to Sofia. She was beautiful with long, dark hair and dark, beautiful eyes. She had plump, soft looking lips perfect for kissing he thought and he found himself looking at them sometimes. He hadn't realized that she had noticed how he looked at her. Not all the time and he never said a thing but a woman knew when a man found her attractive and Scotty, as he liked to be called, certainty did. Being an Engineer, having an entire ship to keep running was a daunting, thankless job. But after a short time she knew Scotty was one of those rare specimens that got to know his ship so well he could do the job blind-folded. He was intelligent, creative, extremely hard-working like herself, driven and handsome in his own way.

Amara looked over at Nathan. What he said meant a lot to her. She silently hoped that maybe one day she could redeem herself in the eyes of Starfleet. It would be extremely difficult, but perhaps she could do it. She waited anxiously for the surgery to be over and finally, after 2.5 hours, McCoy finally came out and said it was over and had been successful. Amara knew James well enough to know that keeping him in bed for several days was going to be difficult, but perhaps she could...persuade him.

"When can I see him?"

------------------------------------------

Scarlett had never been more relieved to see Elyse than she had been that morning. She was exhausted and needed some rest. She and Spock had a hotel room as well and their bags had already been taken over. Scarlett knew she should probably eat something, but she was just too tired. She let Spock take off her boots and then her clothes. She didn't even put on her sleep shirt. She just crawled into bed. She felt Spock crawl into bed next to her and as he put his arms around her she felt his desire flow through her. She looked into Spock's eyes. She was tired...but perhaps just once....? He seemed to know what she was thinking before she even said anything and when he kissed her, she kissed him back.

------------------------------------------

Sofia couldn't decide if she was more tired or more hungry. The exhausted part of her just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep forever, but Scotty had insisted that she eat something first and she agreed. They found what appeared to be an old fashioned diner and decided that it looked good. They were seated at a booth and they ended up ordering the same thing. Sofia was rather young to be as good an engineer as she was, but she had learned a lot from her father.

"My father was Chief Engineer on the Lakota for years before he got injured. My mom had died a few years earlier, leaving me to live with my aunt and uncle, but when my father returned to Earth he took me back. The problem was was that we were basically strangers. I had only ever seen him in passing over the years. He hadn't even been present when I was born. But it was a shared love of building and fixing things that brought us together."

"Ah, I bet you're a gleam in your father's eye. I kin ta that, you're very good at what ya do. Iv'e seen Engineers come an go, and I know ya care about what your doin lass," Scotty said. "An it shows," he said in his heavy, scottish accent.

"For myself I didn't start off as an officer. I was born in Aberdeen Scotland an I sort of got involved with the wrong crowd as it were. Me da told me ta go up or get out and I decided ta go up. I signed on as a crewman on a Frigate and I never looked back. Ships came an went until that fateful day when Nausicaan raiders attacked our ship. Most of the bridge crew and captain were dead, the ship was dead in the water...or so they thought. I took command and had the ship's engineers shunt Warp power through the Deflector dish for one last bust at them. The energy yield was 10 times than I thought...I did not kin ta that and it shorted out half of our systems but it destroyed the first 2 ships and sent the third runnin for the hills," He said. "I earned my commission that day an never looked back," he said as he took a sip of his coffee. "I've served on 11 ships in all but none of them are anythin like the Enterprise," he said.

Sofia was fascinated as she listened to Scotty's story. She loved his accent and could listen to him talk all day. She was surprised to learn that he had served on 11 ships total and she began to wonder if he would ever leave the Enterprise. That thought upset her strangely enough. "You're not planning on ever leaving the Enterprise, are you?"

Scotty smiled he was really starting to like Sofia and not just in a professional way either. "I've had offers lass but there be no finer Captain than James T. Kirk. And I've served with some of the good ones mind. Captain Kirk has got to be the luckiest man I know. He's assembled the finest crew on the finest ship in the fleet. Anywhere I'd dain to go would be a step down I think," he said as their food came.

"I kin you could benefit from some time on the bridge. Seeing the man work. He'll surprise ya he will," Scotty said as he took a bite of his eggs. "He picked you for a reason and if ya don't mind me sayin lass, I've never seen another Engineer as skilled nor as bonnie as you," He said with a smile.

--------------

McCoy looked at her. "If you let him wake on his own you can see him now," McCoy said. Nathan and Calliste were watching now, no longer engaging in conversation.

Kirk was breathing on his own ans his leg was inside of some kind of clear casing that had a blue energy wave move up and down the length of his leg. He was sleeping with his arms to his sides. He had on a blue hospital gown but he looked fine from what she could see. His color was good and his chest moved as if he truly was just sleeping.

-------------

Spock kissed her back and touched her breasts for a bit but then decided to just let her sleep. She didn't complain, she backed up into his and placed his arm over her and directed his hand to cup her left breast. Not a minute later he felt her body relax and she was out like a light. He smiled then closed his eyes.

------------

Jerik didn't know where Kirk was. The station was massive. He looked like a Starfleet Crewman, an Engineer in hopes the guise might allow him to go unfettered just about anywhere. He knew that the Enterprise had recently docked and so he was headed there now. His master wanted Kirk dead and his men had already failed in that once. The punishment was...hard on him and so failure was not an option here. He was going to take care of the man himself this time. No mistakes.

Sofia felt truly lucky have been been selected to serve on the Enterprise. It had been the one ship she had really wanted to be on and luckily enough the Captain had thought she would be a good fit. Female engineers still weren't as common as male engineers, but Sofia's skill set would put her in fierce competition with any engineer, male or female.

She heard what Scotty said and she smiled and blushed a little at him. "Thank you," she said. Their food came and they talked and ate before heading to go get some sleep.

------------------------------------

Amara walked in and quietly walked over to where James was resting. His color looked good and his vitals were strong. She sat next to him and reached out and gently brushed back a piece of hair from his face. "You know, I think I fell in love with you that first day we met," she said quietly. "You were so cocky and confident...overly confident during that sim, and you purposely angered me, and yet there was something about you that caused me to keep thinking about you long after the sim was over. The truth is is that you deserve so much better than me James, but I could do no better than you. You have always believed in me and because of that I am who I am today. My life just wouldn't be the same without you."

Yorktown Station Stardate 2259.84 Empty Re: Yorktown Station Stardate 2259.84

Eventually Kirk woke up. He yawned and stretched and sat up onto his elbows. He saw Amara there and when their eyes met he saw her stand and come up to him. "I take it everything went well?" he asked as he looked at his leg. There wasn't even a scar. "Well, it doesn't hurt like before so maybe everything worked," Kirk said. "You were waiting for me the whole time? Well, I guess that means you like me," Kirk said in a fake coy voice. That and he smiled one of those secret smiles that he knew made her wonder what he was thinking.

"Can you...turn that off and help me get out of this?" Kirk asked her. "I'd like to see how the repairs are coming along," He said but looked at the time. He knew that the crews were likely asleep. Part of him felt guilty for making everyone work like dogs when the station was all around them. He made a promise to himself to give them a couple days to enjoy the station. Their mission could wait a couple days but even now, the wanderlust began to call to him. And just plain lust as he looked at Amara. She was in civilian clothes and liked how they looked on her.

"I suppose that I'm sharing a room now?" he asked with a grin as if that was not a foregone conclusion. He hadn't forgotten about Jerik or the Sulabon but he wasn't going to let them ruin how much he wanted be with Amara. "I'm hungry, are you hungry?" He asked as Amara looked to see how to deactivate the stasis field.

Amara was still there when James woke up. She had refused to leave his side and when he finally did wake up she stood up and walked over to him. She smiled and rolled her eyes at his comment about her 'liking him'. "Yeah, you're not too bad," she teased with a grin as she walked over to deactivate the stasis field. "The repairs on the ship are coming along just fine. You need to rest and heal," she told him as the stasis field was deactivated. Amara was wearing civilian clothes, but make no mistake, she was armed. She was taking this threat to James' life very seriously. She rolled over a wheelchair and helped him into it. "Wow, you are super chatty today," she teased. "Kinda reminds me of how you are after sex," she said with a grin.

She wheeled him out of the room and checked him out. Nathan and Callista followed at a distance. "What are you in the mood for? They have pretty much everything here."

"You and room service," Kirk said. He said it a little too loudly and Callista snickered from behind them. he heard Amara's sigh and he decided to stop trying to be funny. Though he was very serious. "I could go for a good steak?" He said as he looked up at her. He murmured the words. 'I want you' to her and then smiled when he looked back to the way they were going again. He liked tempting her like this. One time in 12 months was not going to hold them for long. Not him at least. Not with his leg feeling better. It was still tight and sore but he couldn't damage it now and thinking about making love to her in a couple of very naughty positions made him smile and feel good about being alive.

The steak place was very human. It had a smoky, burned scent to it that made Kirk's mouth water. He grew up in Iowa where there were large farms everywhere. His father liked a good steak and so Kirk did as well. Nathan and Callista fanned out but it was going to be impossible to find someone who could look like anyone before they did anything. Amara removed a chair so Kirk could roll right up to the table. The waitress came up to them and introduced herself and handed them menu's. She was young and quite pretty with her blonde hair in a ponytail. She wore a shirt skirt and Amara caught Kirk checking out the young woman's ass as she stepped away before he opened up his menu. He was in 'that' mood until she could 'fix' it but he was hungry too.

"Ohh...I'll have a beer too, and a filet, medium rare," he said to her. "Hey, Nathan, you guys want anything?" he asked them. Nathan just shook his head. They were on duty but he did want to join them. He knew Callista did too but he shook his head when she looked at him.

Amara was glad that James was feeling better. He had scared her a little bit last night. She had never seen him like that before. When she and Nathan had talked earlier he had told her that he had been like that ever since she had been gone, though he had tried to hide it from the crew. Amara had felt the same way, but now that they were back together she didn't plan on leaving him again. She knew that he was in a very frisky mood...and so was she, but he needed to eat something and she was hungry as well. A steak sounded wonderful to her.

They got a table and sat down and Amara couldn't help but notice James checking out the waitresses ass as she walked away. She didn't say anything. She knew he was a flirt and liked women. He could look...as long as it didn't go further than that.

"That sounds good," Amara said after hearing what James was going to order. She closed her menu. They ordered and over their meal they talked about various things...mostly what had happened on the Enterprise since she had last been there. They had other things they needed to discuss, but she wanted to wait until they were in private.

After they finished eating, they headed back to the hotel room. Nathan and Callista were relieved by two other guards so they could get some rest and food. Amara and James made love twice before finally collapsing onto the bed in a sweaty heap. "Wow, I guess you are feeling better," she teased with a grin. They lay there for a while quietly before Amara looked up at him. "I think we should get married. We have the opportunity while we're here and we both know we want to be together...so why not just do it?"

Was there anything better than a good steak lunch and then having Amara for double helping of desert after? Kirk didn't think so. He had alot of pent up energy and her being near him was like a drum of fuel near an open flame. She ignited his passions and 15 minutes after she jumped on him again. Kirk did not complain though, and he enjoyed it when she told him what to do to her and how. After they settled back on the bed what she said next was very much unexpected. Kirk lifted up onto his elbows to look at her. he wasn't ready to have children and though they had talked about getting married, that was a long way from actually 'being' married or 'getting' married.

"What's wrong with how we are now?" he asked.

Amara had not been expecting the answer he gave her and she felt confused and suddenly unsure of their future. "There's nothing wrong with it, but if we're going deeper into space this is the last Space Station we'll come across unless we turn around. If we decide later on we want to do it then we may not have the opportunity."

"Amara, The Enterprise is mine. And though I do not place upon you such a specific expression of ownership, you are mine as well. When the enterprise leaves, you will be sufficiently tucked away in my bed if I have any say of it. Which I kinda do. You will stay with me aboard ship and I will be giving you your commission and job back. It will just be a field commission but everyone on board will have to respond to you as one of the crew. Besides, you have friends already and the crew is aware of what you did. I think marriage is...premature," Kirk said carefully.

Amara found that she was quite upset...although she didn't fully understand why. Did it truly matter if they were married or not? She knew he loved her, just as she loved him. She trust him as he trusted her. They were a team and she would be back on the ship with him. Wasn't that enough? No, it wasn't a matter of it being enough...it was a matter that she wanted a legal reason for no one to be able to separate them again. She wanted to know that he was hers...just as she was his. She had lost her parents and then she had lost the family she had thought she had belonged to. The thought of losing James was too much. Marriage was so much more than just the ceremony to her. It meant that she would never be alone again. But how could she tell James that now. Why didn't he just understand that?

"Oh...ok," was all she said as she moved away from him and moved up onto her side. Her back was to him and she just stared at the opposite wall.

Kirk sighed and shifted toward her and put his hand on her shoulder. "Amara, don't be like that. We're going to be together. You'll be on the ship and it will be like it was before except without the sneaking around. "C'mon," he said as he kissed her shoulder. "I love you, I want to be with you, lets just give this a go for while, ok?" he suggested as he kissed her neck and then blew on her neck where he knew she was ticklish. "We'll be on the bridge together, we'll be living together, we'll eat together and go on missions together," He said. "Siamese twins won't be spending as much time together as we will be," he said jokingly. When she didn't budge he continued to kiss her lovingly and began to rub her bottom. "C'mon Amara," He said again in between kisses.
