The Nightsisters of Dathomir

The Nightsisters are a coven of witches that lived on the mysterious world of Dathomir. The sisters ruled unchallenged, gifted with the power to wield dark magicks. The men of Dathomir, the Nightbrothers, lived apart from the witches, but were subservient to their whims. Despite their power, the Nightsisters avoided the conflict of the Republic and Sith, content to pursue their own matters. The Jedi gave them a wide berth, for they remain focused on matters on Dathomir. Count Dooku has had dealings with them in the past, and turned to them when he was in need of a new apprentice. Their betrayal of Dooku earned the Nightsisters a powerful enemy, and he ordered a massive attack by his droid forces in retribution.

The Nightmother, Talzin leads the Nightsisters and have a vendetta against Lord Dooku who betrayed them. Her son, Darth Maul, a Nightbrother was defeated and horribly injured by Qui-Gon Jinn. She used her dark powers to heal his body. In the meantime they used the Nightbrother Savage Opress to destroy Lord Dooku but he was defeated in the attempt.

Lord Dooku is attempting to influence Lord Grievous to attack the Nightsisters in retaliation using his massive, droid army.

Talzin the nightmother is very old and feels her end coming. It is said that when the nightmother is close to her passing she will know the identity of her successor. She believes this to be the child of Amara and Tarian Kaldera, Two Sith with strong family ties to the Nightsisters. Amara had visions of this prophecy while her daughter was in her womb. To keep Talzin away from her daughter Amara and Tarian were forced to expose her abilities to the Jedi on Coruscant. She was identified immediately as having force sensitivity and was enrolled in the Jedi school there.

When Talzin learned about this betrayal she sent Darth Maul to retrieve the two Sith and he brought them both back to Dathomir. She has sent Darth Maul out to find Kaia Kaldera and bring her back as well.
