The Ambush (October 1986)

Isabella jerked awake with such a start that she suddenly felt herself being held down. She didn't know where she was or what was happening. The last thing she remembered was several shots hitting her. Thankfully, she had been wearing a Kevlar vest, but it had still knocked the wind out of her. She heard James' familiar voice, but she didn't relax.

"What the hell happened?! Where is Tony?!"

“Ok, ok,” James said and gestured for them to back off. He looked around. “Let me talk to her...alone,” He said and the doctors all looked at him then relented and stepped out of the small room. ther e were medical apparatus everywhere and she saw her vest on a table next to her. That and her chest hurt terribly, especially her breasts that felt as if she had been kicked several times there. “He was taken. And those that took him sent us video of him. He’s alive but so far they’ve made no demands,” He said plainly.

Isabella's chest ached, but she knew she was lucky to be alive. There were soldiers that had not been so lucky. She slowly sat up and realized she was on an IV. What James told her caused her eyes to bulge. She just sat there for a moment as what James had told her sank in fully. She then became angry. "I told those fucking bastards that we shouldn't cut security measures! Now look what's happened!"

She took a few breaths to calm herself as fear for Tony's safety bubbled up. "Ok...we need to start doing systematic sweeps starting from the attack site and working our way out." She stood up and ripped the IV from her arm.
