Always Plan For The Worst

Serena looked over at Peter and sighed a little when he suggested that they should get up and get dressed. She smiled slightly when she saw the other condom though. She had no idea how long her parents were going to be gone, but she could always tell when her parents arrived back at the helipad so that would give them some warning. Her smile turned into a grin and she pulled him back onto of her and kissed him.

Natalya was still bleeding but she shook her head. "I don't need or want first aid from any of you,' she practically growled. "I'm fine. Let's just go."

“We need a moment,” Logan said and grabbed hold of Natalya’s wrist. “We don’t have time…” Tony began but Logan’s look quieted him. Logan felt her try to pull away but his grip was like a vice as he hauled her back a few meters to talk to her.

“Natalya, I know you’re not used to taking orders. And you completed the mission. Why are you so intent on getting their backs up and taking everything personally? Your not alone anymore and as long as I’m here you’ll never be alone,” He said hoarsely. His voice wasn’t at all kind or soothing but that was just how Logan was. For him to speak to her like this was indeed a rare thing. But he had taken responsibility for her when he spared her life and he would not see her throw it all away. He could see the fiery anger in her eyes but at least she was listening to him. And then he said something he had never said before in his life. “Please,” He said in a rasp as his grip loosened on her wrist.

It didn’t take very long to get back into it. And it took Peter much longer to orgasm the second time around. He could see it appeared more enjoyable for Serena this time as well and their love making was much more aggressive as if they both knew the clock was against them. It was still quite enjoyable for that though and both hers and Peter’s face were very red from the effort.

Natalya tried to pull out of Logan’s grip, but it was tight and he refused to let her go. She was pulled away from the others and she yanked her arm away finally and crossed her arms over her chest. “They don’t want me here Logan. You should have just killed me that day instead of bringing me here. I’m nothing but a monster to them. I’m nothing to anyone unless they need something from me. I’m not a part of this team. They just saw an opportunity to use me. It was the same with the SSB. I’d rather die than be treated like I’m nothing. I didn’t ask for the life I got. I was forced into it. No one has ever actually cared about me.”

Logan nearly snarled at her. He needed to remember that despite her abilities and her intelligence she was still of an age and mentality that she doesn’t know everything. That and working for the SSB has made her single-minded. Well, he would disabuse her of her predications if he needed to beat them out of her!

“Do you think Rome was built in a day Natalya? And if they truly didn’t want you here...you wouldn’t be. We both know what this really is about and it has nothing to do with them,” He snarled though he was ‘trying’ to keep his voice down. Keeping his temper to a mild throng in his head was not easy for Logan and the woman seemed to be able to press all of his buttons without any effort. He moved right up to her, so close that their noses were nearly touching. He grabbed onto the harness that criss-crossed her chest and back and shook her violently. Isabella didn’t know what was happening but even though she didn’t trust or really know Natalya, she wasn’t about to stand for Logan mistreating her. However as she took a step toward them Tony held her back. “No, Isabella,” He said softly.

“Trust is earned and you’ve got a long way to go for that!” Logan growled and he had that crazy look in his eyes as if his anger might boil over at any moment. “So, do ya wanna to know what your gunna do?! Do as your told, that’s what! Do what your told and not cause any more waves! I dont give a flyin fuck that your hurting inside or that your scared or you think you deserve to die! You’re ‘not’ dead and for the first time in your life you have choices to make. I’m not letting you fuck this up without a fight!” He said and nearly bit her nose with how close he was.

Natalya's eyes were dark stormy pools of anger and pain. She had never had anyone care about her like Logan seemed to. It was a strange way of showing care, but neither of them were the sappy types. She still didn't know if this was where she belonged, but it seemed that Logan wasn't going to let her go anywhere. She finally let Isabella see to her wound. The bullet had passed through her flesh and Isabella bandaged the wound to stop the bleeding until she could be more properly treated back at the Tower.

Natalya pulled out the flash drive and tossed it to Steve, rather hard because she was still angry. "I got it done."

Isabella was silent as she stabilized her wound and Steve said nothing to her baiting him for a curt response. Logan did not understand ‘why’ he was trying with Natalya. Perhaps she reminded him of himself. He had all but been driven out of the X-Men. He was hardly no saint nor the sentimental sort. So why was he doing this? He suspected it had to do with a pair of brown eyes. Natalya was probably the most beautiful woman he had ever seen in his life. He had fallen for Jean certainly but Jean had already gotten into his heart before he could stop her. This thing with Natalya, toxic as it might be was something else entirely. He had to care for someone he supposed. Why not her? ‘Because she is going to drive you crazy, that’s why not!’ He said to himself.

They all landed on the helipad and Peter and Serena were already there waiting for them. It was obvious they had been in a battle and peter winced at the bandage around Natalya’s waist. He felt Serena wanting to go to them but he quickly grabbed hold of her hand and intertwined his fingers into hers and kept her at his side. Now having been with her, Peter felt a sense of responsibility for her as well now. He did not want them to think of them as teenagers anymore. And that all would need to start with them not acting like teenagers. Though he definitely was going to play that holo game some more!

Logan and Natalya came in first and they were both covered in blood and grime. “Serena, can you show Natalya how to operate the medbay and help her down the stairs?” Logan asked. Peter let go of her hand then.

“You met the goblin guy, didn’t you? Were you...successful?” he asked and Steve nodded as he handed Peter his shield. Steve had not been hurt at all but he did look tired. Tired and dirty. “Polish that up Peter, I’m going to have a shower,” he said as he passed by them. “Uh, sure thing Cap, I’ll do it right away,” he said eagerly then hated himself for sounding like some kind of sycophant or sidekick.

After her wound was more properly treated, Natalya went up to her room. She could hear some of the others out in the living room discussing everything that had happened, but she didn't feel like being out there, but also wasn't entirely sure if they wanted her out there among them. Logan's words though echoed in her head. If the others decided they wanted her to stay then she would stay, but that was out of her hands. She had shown them what she was capable of tonight, but they would also know what else she was capable of. She had done terrible things that she wanted to forget but never would be able to and that was what they were basing their judgement on. Could she be a better person? Could she change?

Isabella walked with Tony into his office and he shut the door behind them. Isabella walked over to the minibar and poured them each a drink. She handed one to Tony and then took a sip of hers. "I think we should give Natalya a chance. She could be an extremely powerful asset to this team if given the right opportunity. I won't deny that she has...issues, but Logan does too and we gave him a chance."
