The Avengers

Natalya ran beside Steve and she looked up to see two figures falling from the sky and through the glass roof of the train station ahead of them. Thankfully, the dark streets were relatively empty of citizens and those who were there had fled in terror. She had met Corvus before, but wasn't sure who this other being was. She wasn't sure where Evan was at this point, but hoped he was alright and that the stone hadn't been taken.

She and Steve entered the train station just as a train was passing through. Through the space between the individual cars she could see several figures. One was standing over the other two with some kind of metal staff. As the last train car passed by she could see Proxima Midnight more clearly. Natalya was poised and ready for a fight. Across the train tracks she could see Evan and whom she assumed was Vision and the Scarlet Witch. Suddenly, Proxima threw the staff at them. It flew fast, cutting through the air with almost no sound but in the blink of an eye Natalya reached out and grabbed it, much to Proxima's surprise.

Evan was concerned that he hadn’t seen the other guy...Corvus. From his past experience with him Corvus was not someone to take lightly and he was likely sneaking up on them right then. He had not even really looked at who was huddled over The Vision but he heard a voice behind him.

“Evan...Evan Cullen?” He heard and turned back toward them and saw a familiar face. “Wanda?” he replied in surprise and his eyes grew wide as he looked at her. “What are ‘you’ doing here?!” He said in both excitement and outrage. It was then that he glanced at The Vision and saw the yellow mind stone that protruded from his forehead. “Me? What are ‘you’ doing here?!” She exclaimed and stood up and took on a defiant pose. It was then that Corvus struck though Wanda managed to get her hands up in time to deflect his slash with his polearm. It hit her red energy barrier and sent her hurling backward. He appeared to ignore Evan and hit The Vision then put his foot onto his chest and touched the mind stone with his glaive. Evan didn’t understand what he was doing but he didn’t think it was good. He created a shadow pocket under The Vision and he fell down into it and he opened one up near where Wanda had been thrown. Corvus looked around quickly then his eyes settled upon Evan.

“You should not have interfered!” He said in a rasp and then he attacked. The weapon seemed capable of cutting through his shadows like butter but he had thickened the shadows around them and the only reason Evan wasn’t speared with that thing was because Corvus himself was affected. Evan turned his body and then sunk into another shadow beneath him only to roll out of another a few moments later near The Vision. Evan was about to say something to her but she held her hand up to stop him.

“We’re NOT talking about…’that’ now!” She said demandingly. Evan only blinked at the angry words. “It’s over and done with Wanda,” He said as he got to his feet. Just in time for Corvus to be on them once more.

Proxima sneered a dark smile at them as they came on but it was Natasha who addressed her first and she turned her head to look at her. “You can leave now...or stay and maybe die,” She said confidently. Proxima’s smile grew then pulled her weapon back to her. The strength of the pull almost knocked Natalya off of her feet and she and Steve Rogers flung themselves into the fight. Natasha had 2 small blades and Proxima attacked her with her doubled edged staff. Sam came in from above but Proxima dodged his attack. Glinting metal met blue energy and blue sparks flared out when Natasha and proxima’s weapons met. Proxima kicked Steve in the chest as he came at her and as she twisted she nearly hit Natalya in the neck with an extended strike but she narrowly evaded. She and Steve had no weapons but Natasha did and they could still flank her and give Natasha the advantage which they did. Steve Rogers was amazed by Natalya’s speed and strength and he began to respect her abilities as he became aware of them. It reflected his own and together they worked in tandem to threaten and confuse Proxima. Natasha’s blades were a whirlwind of flashing steel and she hit proxima several times but it was Steve’s and Natalya’s hands and feet that seemed to hurt the odd woman the most.

Wanda, with Evan’s help had managed to disarm Corvus and she used her magic and hit him hard across the middle. Corvus was propelled backward toward the others with great force and the others jumped out of the way as he crashed into Proxima. The force of the impact flung them both several meters back and Corvus was slow to get up. “You will regret this!” Proxima growled as she got back up onto her feet though slowly. She touched her wrist and a pale blue light appeared above them suddenly. In an instant they were both pulled into some kind of vortex and their weapons were drawn in after them with a great force. The vortex winked out and the area around them was calm once more.

Wanda was on her knees over The Vision and she used her red magic to heal him but it only seemed to do so much. Evan and Wanda had had a short relationship a while back but she had broke it off and obviously she was with this Vision character now. Evan was with Natalya now so he didn’t really want to talk about it either. Their break up was quite sudden and explosive and there had been no resolution there. They were very close once but now his feelings for her were just a distant memory. Evan panted with the effort of using so much of his power so quickly and watched as the others stepped up to them.

“You must destroy it,” The Vision said to Wanda and her face contorted into a paned dismissal of his request. “The hell I will,” she growled with tears in her eyes. The Vision was obviously hurt and clutched at his side. They appeared to be arguing now and Evan stepped away toward the others. “You know they’ll likely come after him again. I can hide him but I don’t think I could keep a shadow that large indefinitely,” Evan said. He looked over at Natalya and was relieved that she was no worse for wear. Evan had beads of sweat on his face and forehead and felt as if he had been running for miles. He looked paler too but Natalya knew his powers took alot out of him.

They had managed to keep Proxima and Corvus from getting the Mind Stone for now...but she had a feeling that they would be back for it...and probably with more help. She glanced over at Evan and then at the woman who kneeled over The Vision. She had heard their exchange during the fight and it was clear that they knew one another. From what it sounded like they had known one another rather intimately. Natalya wasn't angry. She and Evan both had pasts and she wasn't going to become jealous over some woman he wasn't with anymore. However, she was curious about her.

She walked over and was relieved to see Evan was alright. She reached out and lightly touched his cheek in an affectionate manner before stepping over to Evan's ex and The Vision. "I'm Natalya Sokolova," she said introducing herself. She looked at the stone embedded in Vision's forehead. "Is there any way of extracting the stone that will leave him alive?"

The Vision looked up at Natalya, his android eyes looked a little sad and he seemed resolved to his fate. “No and nothing you say will make me kill him. I can destroy the stone but he will die,” She said defiantly. Evan’s thought went to something else. Something dark and Evil as if the shadows around him were feeding him the dark intent. Could he bare that? He wondered and as his eyes settled upon Natalya’s. She was looking at him as if she knew what he was thinking.

“So if he were dead, then you’d destroy the stone?” he said and at the same time he clasped his hands behind his back in hopes it would belie his hard words. “It is half of the universe we are talking about yes? What is the price of one man’s life to that?” He said honestly and all eyes shot to him in an angry outrage. Sam landed just a few feet from them and stepped up to join the conversation. Wanda took a step back and her eyes and fists glowed red as she embraced her power. “Wanda...it’s the only way,” The Vision said weakly from behind her. Natasha looked at Evan suspiciously but there was a thoughtful look in her eyes as well. Steve Rogers moved up and took a long, hard look at Evan.

“That’s not how we do things Evan but I have an idea of how we might be able to remove the stone without harming him,” he said confidently. Wanda visibly looked relieved but Evan continued. “I doubt there is enough time and we don’t know if Tony Stark and Bruce banner were successful,” He added.

“What you suggest in monstrous Evan, what happened to you?!” Wanda said as tears fell down her cheeks. She did not let down her guard either. “I decided that someone else’s life was more important than my own...and so should you Wanda,” he said coldly almost without any emotion in his voice. Natalya knew that the situation was getting more tense by the moment. Evan might do something rash and try to kill The Vision. She could hear it in his voice.

Natalya looked over at Evan when he began to suggest simply killing The Vision and destroying the stone. Yes, that would solve their problem, but Natalya did not like it. There had to be another way. She was relieved when Steve spoke up and said that he believed there was a way of extracting the stone while leaving Vision alive. However, she knew that nothing was for certain. Right now half the universe was at stake and they needed a plan that would work.

She walked over to Evan and pulled him aside to talk to him privately. "We can't give up without at least trying what Steve believes might work. If there is a chance of defeating Thanos while leaving Vision alive then we should attempt it. I wouldn't be able to live easily knowing that we might have saved him."

Evan let himself be moved back and listened to Natalya’s hushed words. The others were talking to, mostly Steve saying that they needed to move quickly if there was a chance at all.

“But we could stop it all here and now and put an end to it. If it were me lying there I’d ask you to do it. The Vision should be able to choose how he goes out and he has. Her refusal risks us all Natalya. She’s just being selfish,” he said looking into Natalya’s eyes. “I’d do whatever I had to to keep you safe...whatever I had to,” he said forcefully but in barely more than a whisper.

“Lets go, everyone back to the jet,” Steve commanded.

Natalya looked at Evan. "And doing whatever you do to in order to keep me safe wouldn't be selfish? If I was in her situation I would be selfish because I love you...just as she loves him." She heard Steve call everyone to the jet. She sighed and looked at Evan. "I'm not going to force you to go, but I'm going. I may be making the wrong choice, but I have to see if there's another way."

She looked at him another moment before she turned and started to walk towards the jet.

Evan watched her step away from him with the others and he followed them to the jet. Inside as they took off there wasn’t alot of conversation. He didn’t even look at The Vision or Wanda. He suspected if he had Wanda would be looking at him as if she wanted to kill him. He thought about what Natalya had said to him and continued to look at her even though she was looking out of the window.

The flight didn’t take very long and Sam was worried that Steve’s coordinates may be off as he pitched the jet’s nose down toward the trees. It looked as if they were going to hit the trees but just before they did a blue energy struck the plane and the plane seemed to pass through some kind of shield into another place. Everyone had heard rumors of Wakanda but Evan had never expected that they might be true. Everyone gazed toward the front to take in the beautiful landscape and Steve directed Sam to land by the main structure there. The guards and soldiers seemed to be dressed and carry archaic weapons as if they had been lost in time. But there were flying vehicles in the sky and there was no surprise on their faces for the jet they just landed in. A black man in a dark suit greeted them with others that looked and acted like guards.

“Ah, Steve Rogers, my friend...it is good to see you. We are pressed for time and my sister is ready for you,” he said and Steve Rogers nodded and looked back to Wanda. “Wanda, we need to hurry,” he said and Wanda nodded. Evan wasn’t really paying much attention to the exchange. He was looking at their surroundings. As Wanda and The Vision were led away a voice came over T’Challa’s wrist communicator T’Challa lifted it up toward his face. “Go ahead Shuri,” He said. “Something just entered the earth’s atmosphere...multiple ships, they are here,” She said over his comm. “Then you must hurry Shuri,” He said and lowered his arm.

“They will be here soon, we must prepare for war,” He said calmly.

Natalya knew that Evan was following them even without looking back. She boarded the jet and took a seat. She looked out the window as the jet took off, though she felt Evan's eyes on her. No one else really spoke either. The magnitude of what might happen if this failed was hitting everyone. They didn't know if the other stones had been found or not, but they had to assume that they had been. This had to work...it just had to. There were no other options.

Natalya wasn't sure where they were going, but Steve seemed to. The sun had risen and Natalya looked out of the plane window at nothing but trees below and was surprised when Steve had Sam pitch the nose the jet downward. She braced herself to hit the trees, but instead they passed through some kind of energy shield and into another world. She actually stood up to look out the front window at Wakanda below. Like everyone else, she was stunned by what she saw. It seemed to be a mixture of ancient and science fiction. It was unlike anything she had ever seen before.

As the jet landed she stepped off as a black man greeted Steve in a familiar manner. Clearly they knew one another. She was looking around when she saw another man approach who looked out of place compared to everyone else in Wakanda. He was a white man and appeared to have a metal arm. He smiled warmly at Steve and the two men embraced. She glanced over at the man and saw him gaze at her and look her over. She saw him whisper to Steve and then Steve glance her way and then respond. An ever so slight look of disappointment came over his face. She figured that this must be James Buchanan Barnes, otherwise known as Bucky or The Winter Soldier.

The hilltop was teeming with Wakanda soldiers who were lined up in ranks. Massive drop ships began to descend from outside the shield, a smaller one tested the shield’s strength and broke up when it hit it. The others landed a little way back from the shield and it was those they knew already that they saw first, Thanos’s henchmen. Corvus, Proxima and that big brutish thing that they had seen when they were with Tony. Evan groaned when he saw him.

“Has anyone heard from Tony Stark?” He asked and a voice answered behind them. It was Bruce banner. Natasha looked at him in relief and surprise. “Bruce?” She said almost with affection in her voice. “Hi Nat,” he said in response. “He and Doctor Strange are no longer on Earth,” he said and went through a short, hastened account of what happened. Ending with the likelihood that Thanos had the Time Stone.

Evan felt sick at this news. And now Thanos would come and take the last stone. He knew it, he felt it in his bones. His eyes had a pained, desperate look in them and he looked at Natalya then up toward the large palace where The Vision and Wanda were. “I’m sorry...that I was to weak to do it,” Evan said aloud. Most of the people there didn’t know who he was and they looked at him oddly not understanding what he was talking about. And he was sorry. For his mother, his father and for Natalya. He had let them all down. Now, things like compassion no longer really mattered. “Curse you Steve Rogers!” He growled and several people looked over at him in surprise and outrage. Though he knew it wasn’t Steve’s fault. It was his own.

In the distance creatures that looked like lizards began to hurl themselves against the shield. Thousands were dying but several looked like they were getting through. The Wakanda soldiers began to call for battle and they started to run forward toward the shield. He couldn’t hear all that was said between T’Challa, Steve and Natasha but those lizards appears to be moving around the shield dome to flank them.

Natalya was mentally preparing herself for battle...and for the possibility that she wouldn't make it out of this alive. She had come to peace with death. At least, if she did die, she wouldn't die without having been loved and without having loved. She looked over at Evan and wished she hadn't gotten him into this. He deserved better than this...better than her. He had done everything for her and now it might be his downfall. It upset her to think about that and she chose instead to focus on the happier moments...them lying in bed together on a Sunday morning...them taking a walk through the park...their dinners on the rooftop.

She looked over at Evan and could sense his growing anger...though she knew him well enough to know he wasn't truly blaming Steve. She watched as hundreds of lizard like creatures began to hurl themselves at the shield. They were testing for weak spots. Then as they began to run around the outside of the shield she looked back behind them at the tower where she knew Vision was and knew what they were trying to do.

"Steve, we need to distract them. Is there anyway to open up just a part of the shield in front of us?"

“Aye there is,” T’Challa said and spoke into his wrist comm to his sister. Evan was watching the surge of lizards as the Wakanda forces began to engage them. The lizards were all in smaller staggered formations so it was difficult for Evan to do anything meaningful. However there were shadows everywhere, large ones, smaller ones and he prepared himself to use them but held back for the time being. Sam Wilson had already taken to the sky and began a vicious assault on the lizard warriors. Once T’Challa nodded to Steve he raised up his shield. As he lurched forward into a run, the rest of the Avengers and the remaining Wakanda, ran with him. Once the gap in the shield began to widen, Evan’s eyes turned black as he began to gather the shadows by the opening. He formed a black pit in front of the gap nearly the entire width of it and nearly 25 feet long. The confused lizards began to lurch forward seeing the opening but they fell into the blackness.

On the side of a cliff nearby high up on one of the mountain rises, a shadow grew and lengthened. As it did lizardmen began to fall out of it toward the jungle floor. Evan had never opened a shadow up that far and almost immediately his face began to grow pale. The hundreds of lizardmen that were swallowed up quickly turned into thousands as Evan tried to keep it open for as long as he could. He fell onto his knees as he continued to hold it and his face grew wane as he strained to keep it there. It began to shrink though and in moments the shadow dissipated and the lizardmen were once again pouring through the opening. Evan fell onto his face exhausted. He could do nothing more than he had today. The Avengers were engaged in hand to hand now. Fighting alongside the Wakanda forces but there were just to many lizardmen.

Natalya watched closely as an opening formed in the shield directly in front of them. Suddenly, the lizards began to concentrate on getting through that opening instead of running around the outside of the shield. She hoped that this would give Shuri the time she needed to extract the Mind Stone from Vision, hopefully leaving him alive. Wanda was there with them to destroy the stone immediately after it was removed. She didn't know how much time she would need, but they would do everything possible to keep the lizardmen away.

As the lizardmen began to rush through the opening she looked over at Evan and gave him a little nod and mouthed "I love you." She then began to run after Steve and T'Challa along with the rest of the Avengers and the Wakanda forces. She saw a group of shadows being formed and lizards began to fall through. She knew that this was Evan's doing and she silently thanked him for his help. She met the one's that did not fall through head on and began to engage in fierce hand to hand combat. Natalya was fast, agile, and deadly. She used her arms and legs, her handgun, and the two knives she had hidden in her boots.

The fighting seemed to go on and on and yet more lizardmen poured onto the field. In just a few minutes the Avengers and the Wakanda fighters were being overwhelmed. Natalya had three on her suddenly and though she managed to stab one of them in the eye the other two bore her to the ground. There was one in her face trying to bite her and the other one raked its large, long claws across her leg. The other Avengers were in similar dismay and Evan couldn’t see much of anything in the pandemonium of battle. It was one, massive melee. He drew his pistol though incase something rushed his position but nothing had. He was so exhausted he could do little more than shoot right then.

Then, suddenly there was a thunder crack and lightning scorched the ground. In the air above the hilltop, Thor was suddenly there and in his hands, some kind of large, axe that glowed brightly in the daylight. He called thunder and lightning and threw it down upon the lizardmen on the battlefield. Scores died with each wave of lightning or were tossed up as thunder rent the earth beneath them. The one on Natalya was flung off of her by lightning and died as it burned to a crisp just a few feet away from her. There were more though, there was always more. In the dusty haze a hand was suddenly in her face. An offering for a boost up onto her feet from the Winter soldier. He tossed her a large, automatic rifle and a bandoleer of clips. “No time for resting!” he mused as he cocked his rifle. A small racoon like thing was next to him and he held his own rifle and appeared to be as angry and as crazy as a weasel in a sack. Together the three of them laid waste to scores of lizardmen who tried to surround them with their superior numbers.

T’Challa heard Shuri’s voice on the comms. “He’s here!” Was all he received before they went dead but it was all that he needed. “Steve...we need to fall back...Thanos is here!” T’Challa shouted loudly. Steve looked in his direction and then as he dispatched another lizardman he talked into his wrist comm. “Everyone, Thanos is on the field, fall back, protect The Vision!”

All of Natalya's years of training and fighting came into use during this battle. Every trick she had she used, but it seemed like she was fighting a losing battle. There were just too many of these lizardmen for them to handle! Natalya was growing tired and suddenly three of them were on her at once. She managed to kill one before the other two pushed her to the ground. She did her best to protect her face from one while the other one clawed her leg. She yelled out in pain as she felt the fabric of her pants rip from the sharp claws and warm blood began to run free. She closed her eyes and thought about Evan believing these were to be her last few moments alive. However, just then she heard a loud crack of lightening and then a boom of thunder. As she opened her eyes she saw Thor, but he looked different from the last time she had seen him. His hair was cut short and he no longer had his hammer. Instead, he had an axe. All around her scores of the lizardmen were fried to a crisp, including the ones that had been trying to kill her. She laid there for a moment trying to catch her breath until suddenly she saw a hand come down towards her. As she looked up she saw it was James Barnes. She accepted his hand and he pulled her to her feet. He then tossed a large, automatic rifle towards her and a bandoleer of clips. She grinned at him as she slung the bandoleer over her shoulder. Before she started shooting though she spotted a raccoon with his own rifle firing wildly at the lizardmen. She simply shrugged and joined the raccoon and James and together they fired at any moving lizardmen that were within firing distance.

Suddenly, Rocket looked over at Natalya and grinned at her as he watched her. "Will you marry me?" Natalya laughed a little and looked at him. "Sorry, I'm engaged." Rocket shook his head. "Lucky bastard."

In that moment Natalya heard Steve call out to them to fall back. A chill went through her as she realized that Thanos was on Earth. That meant that the Mind Stone was the last stone he needed. She began to run with the others, though she kept firing behind her as she did.

Sam Wilson dropped several smart bombs on Thanos’s position and at the same time Natasha engaged Thanos directly with her swords. Everyone else was enroute to their position and moved as fast as their legs could carry them. Evan hd heard the call to and he moved using his shadow step ability. Vision and Wanda were there as well and Wanda used her red magic to try and blind Thanos. As they fought him Evan saw Thanos make a fist with his gauntlet and something made out of the earth picked Natasha up and slammed her down onto the ground hard. Evan wondered if he had to use his gauntlet that way in order to use it. He was still very weak but he thought, as Thanos shot a bolt of blue energy at her, that he might be able to nullify the Gauntlet. As Wanda was knocked back several yards Evan used a shadow and positioned it so that Thanos’s entire arm was inside of it. Thanos looked shocked as he obviously tried to use the Gauntlet on Evan but couldn’t . Evan smiled, a dark angry smile and he began to draw the shadow up Thanos’s Arm. Thanos however figured out what Evan was doing and in an instant he lurched forward and punched Evan in the chest. Evan had only enough time to send of pulse of Negative energy at the incoming fist but it still came, if not as hard as before and knocked Evan off of his feet just as the other Avengers arrived.

“Don’t let him get the stone!” Steve Rogers barked as he rushed at Thanos just as Evan’s shadows upon him faded and his gauntlet was once again exposed.

Natalya was shocked by the sight that greeted her. Thanos was massive! He was well over six feet tall and pure muscle. His skin was a light purple and he had no hair anywhere on his body. On his left hand was the gauntlet and she could see five of the six infinity stones there. Each one was a different color. Seeing the red of the Reality Stone made her feel sick to her stomach. Only a few weeks ago it had been in a very safe location, but now it could cause the end of humanity.

As she rushed over she saw Evan try to use the shadows to get the gauntlet off of Thanos' arm. However, before he could do it Thanos realized what was happening and punched Evan in the chest. She yelled out as she saw Evan thrown to the ground. She rushed over to him and made sure he was alright before she got up and tried to attack Thanos herself. She jumped up onto his back and tried to use a piece of wire to strangle him, but he grabbed her and tossed her aside. She hit a tree before hitting the ground. She groaned, but started to get back up.

Wanda was slow to get up and as Sam came in for another strafe Thanos closed his gauntleted fist and his wings were ripped off and he fell hard to the ground beyond the trees. Steve Rogers staggered back up to his feet and rushed Thanos once more. Natalya was next to him and together they attacked. Steve went high while Natalya went low. There was no sign of the Winter Soldier or Rocket or the odd tree creature they called Groot. Steve was greeted with a hard slap from Thanos but he had gotten his shield up in time. Thanos grunted as Natalya went for his groin but managed to grab hold of her shoulder. When he did he kneed her in the chest and she flew back into a nearby tree. The tree splintered with the impact and she landed a few yards beyond it not far from where Evan lay. Evan tried to get up but something was wrong with his middle. He was dirty and blood dripped out of his mouth. Steve was trying to hold himself upright as Thanos pressed down upon his shield.

Thanos smiled knowing that his destiny was near. He had witnessed the devastation of his own planet. And knew the same would happen to the rest of the universe. His cause was a just and noble one and no one understood better than he why this needed to happen. This man before him was no more than a biteme compared to the awesome power he held in the Gauntlet. To prove it he shifted from the pressure he used to press him down then shifted his arm and swatted him with a vicious arm strike that threw Captain America 50 yards into a tree. Confidently Thanos walked toward The Vision who did not seem to be able to use his power to phase against him. He was injured internally and he could do nothing but watch as Thanos drew his hand down and took hold of the Yellow Mind Stone. With an effortless pull he pulled it out of his forehead and The Vision fell back to the ground, dead. Thanos smiled at the small stone he held for a moment then dropped it into his gauntlet.

Power infused Thanos and he reveled in it. His delight was short lived however as Thor appeared in the air before him and he threw his axe at him. The axe struck him in the chest and Thor flew down to him. Natalya was able to get back to her feet but she knew one of her legs was broken. Steve Rogers tried to get back up to but fell back down onto his face. “I told you I would kill you for that!” Thor growled and pressed the axe further into Thanos’s chest. Thanos looked hurt and on the verge of death but he looked up at Thor. “You should....you should have gone for the head,” he said weakly then raised his gauntlet and snapped his fingers.

During those last few moments, everything around her seemed to be happening in slow motion. She tried to get up again, but as she put pressure on her left leg she felt a wave of pain and she collapsed back to the ground near Evan. She watched in horror was Thanos walked over to Vision. She once again tried to get up, but before she could even pull herself up onto her feet Thanos had the stone. Tears came to Natalya's eyes as she could do nothing more than watch as Thanos dropped the yellow stone into the gauntlet. In that moment a wave of visible power came over him.

Natalya knew the end was near. She didn't know what exactly was going to happen, but she wanted to be near Evan...the man she loved...the man who had trusted her when no one else would...the man who had changed her life. She crawled over to him and wrapped her arms around him. Tears began to fill her eyes. "I love you Evan."

Evan knew that he likely had a few broken ribs. His mouth tasted like blood and dust and he saw the interaction between Thanos and Thor. He reached up his hand to try and do something...anything to stop him but it was of no use. He saw him snap his fingers and felt an odd change roll across him. He smiled when Natalya came into his vision. She was there, above him suddenly. He noticed that she was covered in dirt, blood and grime like everyone else but she was beautiful to. He loved her long, wavy dark hair and the way her lips felt when he kissed them. She had agreed to marry him and in his mind's eye he saw them living together and were happy. He smiled up at her when she said that she loved him. “I love you to,” He replied as a sense of peace rolled over his mind. He reached up to touch her cheek but his hand began to quickly fragment like he was turning to ash and it blew away in the wind. He knew in an instant what this was and he frowned knowing what his death would do to her. “I’m so sorry, Natalya,” he said softly as his feet, legs and then the rest of him turned to ash before her eyes.

Natalya smiled as she felt Evan's hand touch her cheek. Then suddenly she didn't feel it anymore. Out of the corner of her eye she saw what appeared to be ash blowing away in the wind and a horrific feeling came over her. She felt sick to her stomach as she looked down at Evan and saw his body suddenly turning to ash. "No...no...no...NO! Evan! EVAN! NOOOOOO!"

As his body disintegrated before her very eyes she began to scream. She doubled over onto the ground where he had been laying just moments before and she screamed again and began to sob. With just the snap of Thanos' fingers her entire life was over.
