Re: Demons and Saints
Pavol gave her a brief, confused look while the other man snarled softly. “You’re lookin at 2 deadmen!” He said angrily. “We’re all as good as dead now! Pavol, ya fool! You’re a damn fool!” He continued though Pavol ignored him as he tried to think about what she had asked. He never heard of any Filament, Dark Matter or otherwise. He shook his head. “I don’t hear of anythin bout that!” He said plainly though he winced. Not knowing what she asked might bring her to hurt him and he definitely didn’t want that. His forehead and face were sweating profusely and he panted and his eyes flicked to her weapon often as she talked with them. Evan had seen interrogations before. Including those where he plied his Fear Generation but having someone like Natalya, someone not beholding to rules or regulations seemed to make the fear a real and tangible thing for the weaker minded. Obviously the other man wasn’t afraid of being hurt or dying or he would have given up his own mother by now.
Re: Demons and Saints
Natalya eyed Pavol as he claimed to know nothing about the Dark Matter filament. She believed him, and she wasn’t sure what else these men might know. They didn’t seem to be very high ranking and therefore probably knew very little. She walked away from them and over to Evan.
“I don’t think we are going to get any more information out of them. We can’t just let them go and what the SSB would do to them when they found out they had told me about the Super would be far worse than anything I could do to them.”

Re: Demons and Saints
Evan turned to face away from the men as Natalya approached him. God he didn’t want to kill these men but what choices did they really have? They needed to get information, needed to find out if they were compromised. It seemed that, in a way, they were but whomever this ‘super’ was, obviously they didn’t account for him and perhaps...somehow, he was the key into why their ‘foretellings’ were wrong or inaccurate. He hated speculation but that was pretty much all they had right then. He leaned into her.
“So they’ll likely torture these men if they find them?” He asked softly feeling his stomach churn at the thought. When she nodded he groaned silently. “Then do what has to be done,” He said regretfully.
He had heard once that if you were going to kill someone, you had to be able to look them in the eye. Well, Evan was not that kind of person. They couldn’t have someone talk about what was asked and answered here today and he couldn’t leave them tied up forever. What choice did he really have? Whomever said “There is always a choice” wasn’t standing in his boots right then. He stepped away to another part of the store. He flinched when he heard 2 quick shots. When he did he waited for a few moments and then let his power go. He heard them crash to the carpeted floor settle in a heap as they bled out. He so very much disliked the smell of fresh blood! When Natalya came up to him he would not turn to face her. He didn’t want to accidentally see the bodies behind her.
“So the SSB expected to retrieve the Dark Matter...this tells us much and also nothing,” he said cryptically. “I think they might try and make another play for it but also, whomever wants it might be local. I doubt the SSB would risk a long transport of something like that, do you?” he asked plainly.

Re: Demons and Saints
Natalya had witnessed first hand the torture that the SSB put traitors through. It was enough to make the strongest man cry for his mother by the time it was all over. And it wasn't just over in a day or two. No, they dragged it on for weeks or sometimes months before finally executing the traitor. At Natalya's 15th birthday she had been forced to execute a traitor in front of the most powerful people in the organization. There had been nothing left of the man who was brought before her and she had killed him without thinking twice. That had been then though, but now...now Natalya did think twice, but she knew there was no other way and both men seemed resigned to their fates. Natalya walked away from Evan and back over to the two men. She aimed and then fired two quick shots, shooting them both between the eyes. She noticed that Evan had stayed away and seemed quite upset by the entire situation.
She walked back over to him after ensuring both men were dead. She noticed that Evan stood with his back to her and she realized that he did not want to possibly view the dead bodies. Natalya tucked the handgun into the small of her back and considered Evan's question.
"Well, it depends on what they are going to do with it," she said honestly. "I think our best bet at this point is to get our hands on it first. You know more about it than I do. Can it even be handled?"

Re: Demons and Saints
Evan looked at her sharply and his eyebrows rose up. “You saw what happened in the lab with just a small amount of energy. If it’s still contained within that cylinder I think it could be handled but not directly. Not touching the Filament...heaven’s no...I don’t think that would be wise,” he said but then paused. He remembered what had happened in the lab. The connection he felt between himself...and the Dark Matter. It ‘called’ to him. Beckoned for hm to take its power. Seize it and use it. That both elated and worried him though. And he didn’t want to talk about it anyway. Not to her, not to anyone...not yet.
His pause could have been taken so many ways so he decided to give her a suggestion instead. “Perhaps if we had a lined case to carry it?” He said and the flicked his eyebrows at her. “And I know where to get one,” he said confidently as if that would be easy.
“Do you think it would be better for us to just take it? Or just stop it from being taken? From SHIELD I mean,” Evan said. “If they have no way to track us we could just wait for the SSB to make their move and they’d have SHIELD to deal with on top of us. However that would put us in close proximity to SHIELD and to being discovered,” He reasoned.
“And, regardless of what we do, part of it will be known to the SSB yes?” He asked but it wasn’t a question. They HAD to get rid of this mutant or whatever that was seeing the future. If that was even true. It sounded like bait to his ears. Something to draw them in to be captured.

Re: Demons and Saints
Natalya sighed and nodded when Evan reminded her of what had happened in the lab. However, she couldn't help but notice his pause and it caused her to wonder what he was thinking. He didn't appear to want to reveal his thoughts and instead distracted her with a question. She decided to let the matter drop for now, but remained curious.
"I suppose we could wait for the SSB to try and take it and then act, but we would risk possibly failing in our attempt to retrieve it. There unfortunately doesn't seem to be any clear answer to this problem," she said with a sigh. She was quiet a moment before looking at Evan. "How much information do you think SHIELD has on this Dark Matter?"
