Family Intervention

Elessar greet Narisa with open arms. He was always like that with his family and he liked Narisa a great deal. Nauriel moved to sit in an easy chair by the roaring fireplace. She had laid a book there but only shifted it and did not pick it back up. Elessar was so tall compared to Narisa. A large man with long, dark hair that grayed at his temples. He had a presence about him and he gestured for her to sit on a couch with him. He relaxed back into it and put his arm across the back and folded his large legs. He was at ease and it put the people around him at ease as well at times.

"Are you enjoying your stay here in the palace?" He asked quite nicely. His voice was deep but also very kind. "Tomorrow if you wish it we can go riding. Lord Conleth has given us several more of his Elven bred horses and I'd like to put them through their paces if you'd be willing to help us?" he asked. It wasn't at all a command she could simply go or not go by his tone.

Nauriel knew that Elfwine was being taken care of and thus she was able to relax. Despite her growing age she was still as beautiful as ever and still widely talked about throughout the city and the kingdom. Tales of her bravery were sung in taverns amongst jovial patrons. Nauriel and Elessar were beloved and they loved their family. Narisa held a special place in Nauriel's heart because she reminded her so much of her sister Lindariel.

Narisa took a seat, but was not nearly as relaxed as her uncle. She sat more towards the edge of her seat with her hands folded in her lap and ankles crossed.

"I always enjoy my stay here," she told him honestly. "I'm always made to feel quite welcome. I've been enjoying getting to see Kaled and spend time with Calene."

She was surprised when he didn't immediately mention Eagan. She began to wonder if she had been incorrect in her assumption that he knew what was going on.

"Of course. I would love to go riding with you tomorrow. I always enjoy riding new horses."

Elessar smiled warmly. He knew of Narisa's ability with horses. He only seen one person with more natural ability on a horse and he was getting on in years. "I've seen your grandfather on a horse a few times. There is no one that I know that knows more about them than he. Perhaps when you are older you might consider availing yourself of his knowledge," he told her.

He knew of no one more humble than Lord Conleth. And even at his waning years he still didn't know the meaning of the word relax. He was out helping someone with something everyday. Elessar wished there were more men like him. Even his own son could use a little of that. 

"How is your family doing? Theoden, your mother?" He asked

Narisa felt herself begin to relax a little. Perhaps her uncle and aunt knew nothing of Eagan and herself. She accepted a cup of tea from her aunt and took a small sip before replying to her uncle.

"Everyone is doing well. Elisa is still settling into her new role in the palace, but is learning quickly. She had a difficult time at first because she missed working with her father and hadn't grown up in the kind of life she is in now, but everyone has grown to love her. I think she will make a great Queen one day."

"And so will you," Nauriel said. "It's in your bones. The conversation was congenial and they spoke of their family and a great deal about current events. 

The next morning Nauriel came to escort Narisa...along with several guards to the royal stables. Her horse was a snowy white stallion named Pharoh. Nauriel's mount was also white and Elessar's horse was  a large brown gelding. Together they rode slowly and as they moved out into the fields outside the wall they were met by two more riders. To her surprise one of them was Eagan and both Elessar and Nauriel observed her reaction but also Eagan's who was very surprised to see her.

Narisa completely relaxed and was happy to talk quietly with her aunt and uncle. She went to bed that night thinking of Eagan and dreaming of what their life would be like when they were married. In the morning, she dressed in her riding clothes and walked with her aunt down to the royal stables to retrieve the horses. Pharaoh was somewhat skittish, but Narisa quickly calmed him with her soothing ways. He was clearly not entirely used to a saddle, but did allow her to saddle him, though it took more time than usual. Finally, they were ready to ride out. They met up with her uncle and together they headed out towards the fields. It was when they were just outside of the walls of the city that they met two riders...one of which was Eagan. Narisa was surprised to see him and Naruiel and Elessar might both witness them look into one another's eyes...though briefly before looking away.

"...Good morning Eagan...how are you this today?"

Eagan had a very difficult time keeping his own eyes from growling large in surprise when he saw her. He was in his riding leathers and jerkin. With his longer hair and growing stubble on his face he began to look more and more rugged. He sat his horse smoothly but he had to clear his throat twice. Elessar dismissed his guard to a distance and the other man nodded and just left back toward the city.

"What are your intentions with Narisa Eagan and tell it true," he asked before he even turned to look at him. "She's my niece and I'll not have anything untoward happen to her," he said darkly. The recent events with Arina had given him a sour disposition as of late and so Eagan glanced quickly at Narisa and she knew now that he wasn't going to lie.

"I..I am in love with her my King. We have been long time friends. It is my intent to gain rank and experience here then approach King Eomer and ask for her hand properly," he told them. Neither Elessar nor Nauriel appeared to be surprised. However Nauriel did look at Narisa as Eagan spoke.

As the guard and the man who had been riding with Eagan were dismissed Narisa knew that this had all been a set up and that her aunt and uncle and known all along about Eagan. She looked quickly at her uncle and then back at Eagan when he asked him in a very straight forward way what his intentions were regarding her. Judging from the look on Eagan's face he was going to tell the truth. Narisa couldn't help but smile upon hearing spoken out loud to others what they had discussed in whispers to each other. It would be clear to anyone that she loved Eagan just as much as he loved her.

"I love Eagan as well. I will have no one but him at my side as my husband. He is here working very hard in order to impress my father and properly gain my hand. He is a very good man Uncle...more than worthy of me in my eyes, though he continues to doubt this."

ooc: Today - Wednesday i am in hell as far as work goes. (We are tearing it all down to ship to mexico) I will not know which way is up and Wednesday evening I have to go home...after a 12 hour shift (if not longer) and cook for Thursday. I will try to post when I can. I am off (yes there had to be a good part) from Thursday until the following Thursday as Engineering is not needed until then. I will probably be doing stuff I have had to set aside in these days but posting should happen more often.

OOC-Well, I hope you get some much deserved rest!

Elessar looked at Nauriel and then down at Narisa. He had a suspicious look in his eye and began to wonder about the true reason she had come. Arina had brought on his less trusting side in him and he now thought she may have come for Eagan specifically.


“So you are in love? Well...then I guess that explains why you’ve decided to visit,” he said accusingly. Nauriel shot him a very disapproving glance. She thought his words were harsher than they should be and the distrust in his voice was very much unlike him. Their horses frisked feeling the tension in the air and Eagan’s expression changed from worried to annoyed in the span of a heartbeat. He was a king...his king but he didn’t like how he was speaking to Narisa at all.

(ooc: I can't wait...one week off!)

OOC-Yeah, I'm off today until Monday and am excited about that, but not moreso than you I know that lol. You deserve this break and I'm very happy you are getting it.

IC-Narisa's expression changed at her uncle's rather accusatory words. He had never spoken to her like that before. She knew that this past year had been a difficult one for their family, but he had no reason to speak to her as he was. She drew up a little taller in her saddle as she looked at him. In the blink of an eye she had changed from a young girl, to a strong and powerful young woman.

"My reason for visiting was twofold Uncle. Yes, I will admit that I wanted to see Eagan, but I also very much wanted to see my cousin and her new baby and that is the truth. I have done nothing to deserve your distrust and though I do not know when I might see Eagan again I will return home unless I am granted back the trust I am due."

Nauriel looked at her niece as she spoke and actually smiled a little. She was proud of the strong woman she was becoming. As any man who took on a woman with Phelan blood it was inevitable that one day that strength would shine through.

Elessar’s eyes seemed to harden right then as Narisa spoke. He didn’t like this kind of thing going on behind her parents. If something happened between them...something ‘untoward’ like they sleeping together it would reflect upon him. He was about to say so when Nauriel gestured slightly.


“Narisa...that will not be necessary,” she said calmly. She could feel her husband was about to say something harsh and she didn’t want that. “We only wish to impart upon you to have...discretion when it comes to ‘stepping out’ with a man without your family's permission,” she told her. “It may well be they might welcome Eagan...we know him to be a good man but you are here and we would ask you both,” she said and her eyes gazed to each of them. “To use good judgement as you explore what is between you.” her words were diplomatic and kind and seemed to satisfy Elessar who only nodded.

Eagan almost gaped at that and his cheeks colored slightly. Had he heard her right? Had she given them permission to consort as they wanted? It certainly seemed so to his ears. As long as it wasn’t out in the open though, that much he knew.

Narisa had not meant to upset or offend her uncle, but she didn't believe she deserved to be treated harshly just because of what her cousin Arina had done. It was true that she and Eagan were seeing one another behind her parent's backs, but she knew her father liked his family and with a higher ranking would surely approve of him for her. She knew that she and Eagan needed to be more careful, but they didn't plan on doing anything that her aunt and uncle would not approve of.

"Thank you," she told them honestly. "We understand your concerns and will use discretion in the future. Eagan has a good, honest heart and came here specifically to work to improve his rank before asking for my hand. We do not know how long he will remain here and being apart is difficult for us. I apologize if I have offended you Uncle in any way, for that was never my intent. I truly did wish to come here also to spend time with your family and meet the newest member...please know that."

ooc: On my way home yaaaayyy!

Little more then that had passed between them and apparently Narisa's ride into adulthood had come faster than anyone had expected. No further stipulations were set upon them and no escorts eother which was a good thing because when the king and Queen left them alone Eagan sidled his horse right up to Narisa's and gave her one of the most passionate kisses she had ever given her. He wasn't the first to kiss her but he certainly was the last she'd ever remember as kisses went. He was happy to see her just as breathless him and the fiery look in her eye.

"I thought my heart was going to leap from my chest," Eagan told her. His admissions were first and he held little back boldly going against custom by word and deed to the king himself. Courage wasn't in it for that and he openly exclaimed his undying love for her when he didn't have to. He was proud to have her love and if she wanted to take him into her bed right then he would do it with how great he felt right then.

Narisa was relieved when nothing more about the situation was said by her aunt and uncle. She watched anxiously as they left and barely had time to breath out when Eagan sidled up to her and kissed her more passionately than anyone had ever kissed her before. If she had ever had doubts about his love for her they quickly vanished. As he slowly broke the kiss they kept their faces close and looked into one another's eyes.

"I need you to work hard so you can come back to Rohan as soon as possible," she told him. "Being apart from you is agony."

OOC-I was thinking after this thread is over that maybe we can jump back to Serethiel and Conleth. We haven't done a thread with them in a while.

Ooc-excellent did you have an idea about the plot? I was thinking that maybe Conleth gets very sick and the healers don't know what it is exactly. Beren has to take up the slack and it's creating issues between him and Ithilwen? Serethiel has to come to terms with the prospect of losing her husband?

OOC-You aren't actually going to kill him are you? Because you wouldn't let me kill Serethiel lol

UEagan looked at her as well and the words just poured from him. "I'm in Agony every moment I can not be with you Narisa. Your touch haunts my dreams and sometimes I miss you so much I feel that I may go mad from it. I can't stop the pain in my heart that burrows down into my soul at the memory of our bodies making love to one another."
