An Early Arrival

Several hours passed and Deshane didn't return. Suddenly, he was being frantically sought by guards who had been ordered to find him immediately. They looked everywhere for him, but finally spotted him in a tavern having a drink. One of the guards quickly approached him.

"Sir, we have been ordered to bring you immediately to the Houses of Healing. Princess Calene has gone into labor."

OOC-She's about 5 weeks early.

Deshane was just deciding to go back and apologize when he was tapped on his shoulder. He saw guardsmen and assumed they were after him for something. "Got the wrong guy pal," he told them. Then he heard what they told him. he ran with them to the house of healing. Calene was early, very early and he was sick with fear. They arrived quickly while she was yelling out in pain. 

"Calene!" He said and rushed to her side. "What's....happening?" He asked.

Calene's labor had started not long after Deshane had left their apartments and had escalated very quickly. This was clearly not false labor and she was immediately rushed to the Houses of Healing. She cried because she wanted her husband and guards were quickly sent to find him. It had taken them a while, but finally he appeared. Calene yelled out in pain as another hard contraction hit.

"Your wife has gone into early labor, probably due to stress" a healer told him. "It's moving along very quickly at this point and there is nothing we can do to stop it. Just keep the princess as calm as possible."

Deshane was ina near panic. "Oh Calene, I'm so sorry, I'm here I'm so sorry," he said as he kissed her cheek then had her grip his hand. "I'm here darling, you need to breath now. Breath through the contraction..." he said and tried to get her to look at him and mimic the act of breathing while they checked to see if it was time for her to push.

Calene gripped Deshane's hand hard and did her best to breathe, but yelled out in pain as another contraction hit. Within a few minutes it was time for her to start pushing. She yelled out as she pushed. She tightened her hold on Deshane's hand again as she pushed. Very soon the healer told them that she could see the head...and then the shoulders and with one last final push the rest of the baby slipped out and immediately began to cry, much to Calene's relief.

"It's a boy," the healer said as they worked quickly to separate him from his mother. He was small, not unusual for a premature birth he had all of his fingers and toes and to be normal for the most part. It wasn't a minute before they brought him up cradled in a white cloth to meet Calene, his mother for the first time though he had been in her womb for months. Deshane looked on at his son with love and relief. "You did it Calene...he's so beautiful...like hi mother," he told her and kissed her then kissed his son.

The moment he was laid in her arms Calene began to cry. He was small, but so handsome and perfect in her eyes. She could already see Deshane in him. She cradled him against her and looked down at him as tears of happiness and relief slipped down her cheeks.

"He already looks like you."

"You've taken a lonely man and given him his family Calene. I love you, I love you..i love you," he told her and kissed her several times. He was so happy right then and it wasn't long before the King, the queen and Kressara showed up. They crowded around her and kissed her and touched the baby. Nauriel held him next. "He's wonderful Calene...you did well daughter," she said and looked as if she would start crying at any moment.

Calene looked up into his eyes with her own love for him shining through. She was exhausted, but so happy when her family came in to see the newest member. She smiled and let her mother hold him. She then watched as Nauriel handed him over to Deshane for the first time.

"How does it feel?" she asked him with a little smile.

Deshane held his son and looked at him for a very long time. He smiled but also had tears in his eyes. "I...I can't even explain it," he said. "I never had as much as now," he added. "He...he will need a name Calene," he said as he returned him to her.

OOC-What was Deshane's father's name?

Calene looked at Deshane and couldn't stop the tears that continued to stream down her cheeks.

"I want to name him Kaled...after your father."

Deshane forced himself not to cry. Not in front of her family. Not in front of her father. "We love you Calene," Elessar said and kissed her. The others did to then left her and Deshane alone. He came to her bedside and kissed her cheek. "I Think Kaled is perfect Calane," he told her. He touched the babies head again. "He's so beautiful like his mother," he said again. "You did so well wife," he told her and it wasn't long before the healers came to clean the baby up then give him back so Calene could feed him. They instructed her and Deshane watched with interest when the baby latched on and began sucking hungrily at her left breast.
