A Horrible Nightmare
Calene didn't remember much of the rest of the evening. She became nearly hysterical to the point where the healers were brought in to give her some herbal tea to put her to sleep. She desperately wanted to know if the body in the cart was Deshane's and she fell asleep in her bed mumbling his name. Calene slept, but not peacefully. She tossed and turned and mumbled constantly in her sleep. Towards morning she had a horrible nightmare where she woke up and saw Deshane's form next to her. His back was to her, but as she put her hand on his shoulder his body turned only for her to be faced with his rotting corpse. She jolted awake, sitting bolt upright in her bed. She was trembling and the sheets were damp from her perspiration. The room was dark because the curtains were drawn closed, but she could tell that the sun was not yet up. Her room was empty, but she could hear voices coming from the main room of the apartments. She stood up and put on her robe and stepped out. Despite having slept, she looked exhausted and her hair was a mess and her clothes wrinkled from her near constant movement throughout the night.

Re: A Horrible Nightmare
The closer he knew he was to the city, the more he knew he’d need to make up to Calene. Part of him wished that the large bear had finished him off knowing full well that she might when she sees him. He had not eaten much in the last several days, he was to hurt to hunt and had to save his legs to walk. He groaned with each shift of his fee but somehow he had made it. The walking stick he had fashioned did much to keep his leg from having to bend. The infection was mostly gone but he was so weak from not eating. He was lean before, now he was almost gaunt. Well there was a cure for that as well he knew.
The sun had already crept through the window. In her apartments in the palace, not her home with Deshane nor her own bed, the sun came through the other way. Her terrace was high enough above the top most high wall that she could see down and all the way to the mountains from where she was. The wind had a warmth to it though she still shivered. Deshane wasn’t there again to hold her in the night, was he alive? Was he that...rotting thing in that cart?
The trumpets blared out their song, a Lord of Gondor was returning home. However as she looked down she saw no one. No train, no caravan, not even a horse though it would be difficult to see a horse from there. She saw horses leaving the main gates but they were just riding toward the trees. Her baby kicked or made her stomach growl or something and then she saw him. A tiny spec of green, darker than the grass around him. The horses were headed for him and she needed no more than that for her hopes to make her want to vault the wall straight out to greet him. As she thrust open her doors her mother was there about to knock. She looked her over and her eyes rose up in surprise. “If you think you’re going out to him like that!” She snapped and pointed back inside. Kressara was on her heels and leaned to look up at Calene. She smiled at her then leaned back behind their mother.

It was the trumpets that made her heart nearly stop. Could it be? She rushed out onto the terrace and looked down as far as she could, but all she could see were the horses and soldiers leaving the main gates. Her eyes frantically scanned the area for any sign of him. She wasn't sure how much of this her heart could take. She felt some tears come to her eyes, but then she saw him. She knew that dark green cloak anywhere. It was him! It was her Deshane!
She practically ran back inside, but as soon as she threw open the doors to the bedroom she was faced with her mother and sister. It was clear from the look on her mother's face that she knew it was him as well. However, before she could try and get past her she was turned and forced back into the bedroom. All she wanted to do was get to Deshane, but she found herself having to wash her face and brush out her hair and change into a dress. She didn't care which one she wore and so she had Kressara pick it out. She was overcome with so many emotions, but at that moment she just needed to see him...to touch him and know that he was alright.

Re: A Horrible Nightmare
Deshane saw them coming and so he decided just to stand there and wait for them. They rose right up on him but severs of them knew very well who it was. Deshane nodded a bow to the soldiers and several of them dismounted to help him mount one of their horses. They escorted him straight to the houses of healing where they got to work on him immediately. They had to lance into his leg to drive out the infection and he had passed out soon after they started. He had several scratches, scrapes and a few deeper wounds from the bear’s claws but he survived and that was all that mattered. He never considered himself a handsome man but Calene did. He had a fairly deep scratch along his jawline but the nurses had a compress on it with a salve and they thought that it would heal completely at least.
He wasn’t awake when Calene and the others came either. He was weak from lack of food though they had given him some water. He looked...dirty and smelled terrible. His face and body were almost gaunt and he was also quite pale when he was almost always darker and tanned.

Re: A Horrible Nightmare
Calene began to sob when she saw her husband. She was both relieved that he was alive, and scared he might still die all at the same time. She sat by his side and refused to leave once she was there. Over the next few hours she talked to him gently and lightly dabbed his forehead with a cool cloth. She told him about how much the baby was moving and how she was starting to grow out of clothes almost as soon as they were made. She suddenly felt the baby kick and she took his hand and gently placed it on her belly where she was feeling the kicking.
"You need to wake up so you can feel this," she told him with tears in her eyes.

Re: A Horrible Nightmare
Deshane did wake and he smiled when she pressed his hand to her middle. His expression changed slightly though as he thought about how he made her not enjoy the ball."I'm...sorry Calene for not being here," he told her in obvious distress about that. "I wanted to see you in your dress and dance...and dance with you," he told her and felt terrible he hadn't been there for her.
Re: A Horrible Nightmare
Calene held her breath when she saw Deshane stir. Tears filled her eyes when he opened his and she gripped his hand even tighter as they began to stream down her cheeks. "It doesn't matter Deshane...I don't care about the ball...all I care about is that you are alive and with me again...nothing else matters."
OOC-Speaking of a horrible nightmare...I woke up to one this morning when I checked the news.

OOC-Hillary may not be perfect, but Trump is actually dangerous. It just upsets me so much that this country gave in to fear and hate.
I'm going to be at a local conference today through Friday, so I may not be able to post very much during the day.

ooc: We can take a break if you need one. Feel free to vent if you want. I am a good listener. Fear is a powerful tool against sensibility.
Edit: I have lived near Detroit all of my life. I do not see anything good coming from what just happened. I really want to be able to say good things but its hard sometimes.

OOC-So I'm still unable to login using my phone. I tried switching to the mobile version and that didn't work and then I tried resetting my password. I'll keep trying, but I'm home now so I can post tonight. A distraction might be nice because I'm avoiding all social media and the news at this point.

Re: A Horrible Nightmare
ooc-ouch. I was very surprised when I woke up this morning. So much for polls and such I guess. they're not worth anything.
Re: A Horrible Nightmare
OOC-I made the mistake of waking up at 3:30 this morning and checking my phone. I couldn't get back to sleep after that and finally just got up at 4:30. I've been gobbling down Extra Strength Gaviscon since yesterday lol

Re: A Horrible Nightmare
ooc-you know I had to look up what the heck was Gaviscon lol. I know its in your nature to worry so I wont tell you not to but consider that you'll still have to get up and go to work, pay your taxes, breathe, drink tea you buy from the store and wash everything with water and vinegar in your new home the day after you get the keys. It is an exciting time for you Miss Amsden.
Re: A Horrible Nightmare
OOC-I don't actually drink tea, but everything else yes lol. I have naturally high anxiety levels and all of my emotions go to my stomach unfortunately so Gaviscon is essential to me lol. So I think I replied last...

Re: A Horrible Nightmare
Deshane winced as the nurse continued to irrigate his worst wound. "It does matter...I...coulda left ya without a husband and our child without a father. I...I wish I knew something else...another way," he said as he began to cry. The nurse had told them they had given him something for the pain but this entire ordeal had really affected him. He wasn't afraid for himself though. Like her father he didn't feel fear like most men. He was afraid for them, his family.
Re: A Horrible Nightmare
Calene continued to hold Deshane's hand. She gently caressed his cheek with the other. "Just get better and we will discuss everything then. Are you hungry? I'll bring you everything you want."

Re: A Horrible Nightmare
He shook his head to her offer and then she felt his hand go limp just as his expression died off. The nurse heard her breath catch and she shook her head. "He's just unconscious Calene...he's been through alot and his body needs to heal itself."
He woke the next morning though he had talked alot in his sleep. "I dreamed my father was still alive," he said softly in a raspy voice. His throat was so dry. "He...he would have loved you...I know it," he said so terribly sad as if the dream had still lingered there in his head.

Re: A Horrible Nightmare
Calene did not move from his side all night. She stayed in the same chair and just watched him. She was exhausted and needed to rest, but no one could pull her away from Deshane's side. She was relieved in the morning when he awoke and she immediately got him some water to drink. She helped him to drink some.

Re: A Horrible Nightmare
His eyes shifted to look into hers. There were unshed tears there and she could see he was fighting falling asleep again. His leg was bad and they had to literally wipe out the puss that hadn't made it's way from the wound. He'd have a long scar there she knew.
"He liked to make things...with his hands...and...he...always made time for you if you saw you needed him. He hardly ever spoke cross to anyone and he had this gentle way about him that made you want to make him proud of you...I tried...I tried ta save em!" he said as he latched out onto her hands. The nurse stood quickly as he shifted as if he meant to get up. It took them both to keep him in the bed and when they finally did he went out again.
