Biography:
Genevieve's parents met later in their lives and tried for several years to have a child before having Genevieve. Her father was an art dealer and her mother was an author. Her mother was already past 40 and Genevieve would be their only child. Genevieve was shy and quiet as a child, though her looks attracted attention, even as a baby. When Genevieve was 7 years old, her father suffered a serious accident that left him unable to work. Genevieve was sent to boarding school, but she already knew that she wanted to go to Starfleet. Her maternal grandfather had been a Starship pilot and she wanted to follow in his footsteps. Her mother was vehemently against her applying, as her father had tragically died in space, but Genevieve had her mind made up. Nothing else was going to make her happy. Finally, her mother relented and allowed her to apply. Genevieve passed the entrance examinations and moved to San Francisco to attend the Academy. Not many women were pilots, but Genevieve had a natural talent for it and impressed her instructors.

Upon her graduation from the Academy, she was assigned to the USS Aries as the Beta shift pilot. On September 4, 2233, Genevieve received word from her father that her mother had passed away suddenly from cardiac arrest. Because her father was unable to work, Genevieve began sending her father a portion of her pay to help take care of him.

After the Aries suffered an accident that left them with little power, the ship's doctor, Dr. Bradley, and Science Officer, Naoko Tanaka, discovered that the dead bodies of race of aliens on a nearby planet could actually be used to power the ship, thus enabling them to get home in a matter of months vs. years. The ship's Captain, James Brown, and First Officer, Levi Turner, were adamantly against such actions, and a mutiny ensued, leaving them both dead. Genevieve was against the mutiny and did not want to help, but was unfortunately pulled into the fray because of her need to take care of her father. In the end, Genevieve was acquitted of any charges and was brought aboard the USS Enterprise to serve as the ship's Alpha pilot.
