Fist Impressions (January 2015)

The next morning Kayla called and wanted to know if she could have a tour of the tower. Logsn talked to Isabella and Tony and Natalya and they didn’t seem to have a problem with it so Logan told her ok but she’d have to be searched at security and she wouldn’t get access to the lab. Kayla agreed and so Logan found himself riding up with her in the elevator. He wore a black t-shirt and jeans with his boots today and he let her hug him when she got in. He felt her kiss him on the neck but he didn’t kiss her back.

“Well you look very nice today, like your trying to impress someone,” Logan said jokingly. He was always quite the jokester with Kayla.

Kayla hadn't been able to stop thinking about Logan. She wanted him in every way a woman wanted a man. She was happy when he agreed to give her a tour of the Tower. It would give her an opportunity to spend more time with him. She had worn clothes that she thought would get Logan's attention and flatter her figure. She wore the perfume that she knew he liked again and when she stepped into the elevator with him she hugged him and even lightly kissed his neck. She didn't overdo it and she took a step back to look at him.

"Well...maybe I am," she replied with a little smile.

The elevator made it up to the penthouse and it opened. Logan escorted her out into the main living area. “So this is the penthouse where the Avengers live,” he said. Kate and Steve stood from where they watched television as Logan and Kayla came up to them.

“Kayla, this is Steve Rogers and Kate Blackwell,” he said as he introduced them to her. Steve smiled and extended his hand to her.

Tony, Peter and Serena were in their lab and Isabella stood with her arms crossed at the entrance to her office as she watched them.

Kayla smiled as she greeted Steve and Kate. They politely chatted for a minute or two. Kate was not happy that Kayla was there, but she smiled anyway. Isabella had not even met Kayla yet, but she did not trust her...not one bit. When Logan brought her over she gave her a bit of a smile and extended her hand. She really didn't say anything though. Natalya, was down in the gym, beating the shit out of a punching bag. She knew Logan was bringing Kayla to the Tower and she continued to be bothered by it, even though she tried to tell herself that it was going to be alright.

Logan showed Kayla the video room, a few of the other rooms and then his and Natalya’s room on the main floor. There were a few things in there, paintings, movie posters that they had liked. A few weapons of natalya’s on one wall and Logan framed his old, brown leather jacket. There were a few books Logan was reading on his bedside table. Logan hadn’t noticed that Kayla surreptitiously closed the door to his room.

Kayla noticed two things during that tour. One, Logan didn't introduce her to his wife, Natalya. And two, he led her to their bedroom. She grinned a little behind Logan's back and slowly closed the door behind them and locked it. She glanced around the room and smiled when she saw his framed, brown leather jacket. "You were wearing that jacket when we first met that night at the bar. Do you remember?"

“I do, I remember it like it was yesterday,” He said as he looked at the jacket. He chuckled. “You were all over me that night. Or maybe you had one too many Tequila shots,” he said. “I’ve never been a fan of Tequila,” He said with a wince and then tried to remember more of those days. “I used to cage fight for money in bars around Alberta,” he said. “Not that night though, I just came in to collect my winnings and have a beer,” he said

Kayla smiled a little as she heard Logan reminisce about the night they met. She smiled at him. "I took one look at you and knew you weren't like any other man I'd ever met. I fell for you almost right away," she said as she sat down on the bed. There was space beside her if Logan chose to sit down and Kayla hoped he would.

“Bah…you just wanted to get laid,” he said as he noticed the closed door.

“Let’s go finish the tour and you haven’t met Natalya yet. She’ll be upset I didn’t introduce you,” he said.

Kayla hid her disappointment that Logan did not take the bait and put on a smile. She nodded but as she walked past Logan she let her hand brush up against his crotch...as if accidentally. They headed down to the gym and found Natalya taking a break from her workout. She looked over and saw Logan and Kayla. Natalya's hackles started to rise and she had to force herself to relax as they walked over.

Kayla eyed her competition and had to admit that Natalya was incredibly attractive. She looked mysterious and exotic, but with a deadly edge to her.

Logan was a fairly intelligent man and intuitive as well. He knew this whole thing was difficult for Natalya. He just wished she trusted him more. He wanted Kayla like any man would. She was nearly as gorgeous as Natalya but he wasn’t ‘in love’ with her. He was at one time, long ago. But now he barely knew her. He wanted to and there were moments that he had wanted to kiss her and maybe more. But that was list, not love. Logan was a very passionate person. Prone to acts of lust and of anger.

“Kayla Silverfox this is Natalya Sokolova, Natalya this is Kayla,” Logan said. He could tell the two women were like 2 strange cats that had never seen one another before. “Kayla, this is the gym,” Logan said. Peter suddenly came down and stepped up to them. “Uh Logan, Tony wanted time see you…” he said then saw the newcomer. “Oh hello.” He said. Peter took one look at Kayla and then swallowed. That and his  cheeks colored slightly. “And this is Peter Parker,” Logan said.

Natalya and Kayla both eyed each other suspiciously. There was a slight tension in the air between them, but it was coming from both women...not just Natalya. Natalya knew that Logan was a passionate man, but she hoped he would keep that passion just for her. They had worked too hard to build up what existed between them. She needed him more than he would ever fully understand.

Natalya glanced over at Peter as he suddenly appeared and she noticed him look at Kayla oddly. His cheeks seemed to color slightly and she saw him swallow as he looked away from her slightly. She wasn't sure what that was about, but at the moment it didn't matter. Logan and Peter stepped away leaving Natalya and Kayla alone together.

"So," Natalya finally said, breaking the silence, "you work for the CIA, huh? Isabella Stark used to work for the CIA," she said as she put back on her wedding and engagement rings. She never wore them when she trained or worked out.

Natalya wasn’t just beautiful, she was gorgeous even after a workout. Everything about her was just a smidge better than Kayla knew she was. The only thing Kayla has was her similarities with Logan. And the fact they could have children together. That would never happen with this woman. She smiled though her cheeks had colored slightly finally understanding what she was really up against. Wow this was going to be tough!

“Well...after SHIELD found us...me. After losing Logan and the baby...everything then they held us for a time. And questioned us everyday for weeks,” she said as she stepped around to look at the Gym. Some of the machines they had were like nothing she had ever seen before

“I tired to end it...while they held me. But they did something to me and whatever I did never worked. I healed,” she said softly. “I cut my wrists, hung myself, even poisoned myself,” she said then shrugged.

“SHIELD passed me off to the CIA for more questioning and then they offered me a job. I figured I could just let my sorrow consume me or just do something so I did something,” she said.

“And I know what everyone is going to ask. When I knew where Logan was...Why didn’t I come to him?” She said and then turned back and faced her.

“I didn’t think he’d want me. How can someone tell you that you lost their child? How could so do that to him? I know that seems...shallow but I knew I couldn’t do it,” she said. “Then...when he called me...how could I avoid him then?” She said and reached up and wiped a few tears from her eyes and let out a soothing breath.

Natalya was a very good spy and had been trained to watch the little behaviors of others to tell when they were lying and she knew Kayla was lying about almost everything she had just said. Natalya did not let on that she knew that though. She decided to see if Kayla would give herself away in one way or another and she did not fall for her fake tears.

"What I'm still trying to figure out is how Hydra even found Logan there?"

Logan and Peter stepped away and went upstairs. Kayla was an agent and she had a strong feeling that Natalya didn’t believe her story. And now, what she said next confirmed it.

“I thought about that too, for years,” she said as she drew closer to Natalya. “I’m actually glad that we could talk Natalya. I know you and Logan are married. I know that Logan loves you but I love him too. And I can give him what you can’t. Like him I won’t age and I heal like him. The only gift I received from being experimented on and treated like an animal!” She said angrily. Her expression changed quickly though.

“I want him. I can give him children. I want to give them to him. He deserves that,” she said. “Eventually you’ll grow old and die on him. I won’t,” she said.

Natalya's expression did not change at all as Kayla spoke. She didn't seem at all surprised by what she said. In fact, Natalya had been expecting it. She crossed her arms over her chest and narrowed her gaze dangerously at Kayla.

"You can't have him. He's no longer in love with you Kayla. He loves me and he's never going to leave me for you. We share a bond that you could not possibly understand or hope to achieve with him. All you are is a memory...closure that he needs. You are nothing more than that. It's true that I can't give him children and that I will eventually die, but I can give him something you can't...true, undying love. If we were ever separated I would spend the rest of my life doing everything I could to find him. You didn't even lift a finger. You are no competition for me and I know there's more to you than you are letting on and when I find out, and I WILL find out, I'm going to expose you for the liar you really are."

For a moment, a brief moment, Kayla’s eyes grew large in surprise. ‘So you ARE who everyone says you are’ she thought to herself. Kayla left her arms at her sides.

“So if that’s true, let Logan prove it himself. Let him decide what he wants. You could tell him what I’ve said. And push him the way you want or you can stand behind your own words. I’m going to make a play for him. You can stop me or put your faith in him. If he sets me aside for you, I will step away and he will have his closure,” she said and then her brow curled down and she touched her forehead.

“What happened before...wasn’t supposed to happen. But I got to know him and grew to love him. I wouldn’t be here otherwise. So, will you stop me Natalya?” She asked.

Natalya eyed Kayla carefully. She trusted Logan, but this woman was cunning and deceitful. She and Logan had experienced tests in their love and relationship before, but this would be the ultimate test.

"No, I won't stop you Kayla. I'll let Logan do that for me."

Natalya said nothing more. She picked up her water bottle and towel and walked past Kayla and out of the gym. She wanted to go talk to Peter. She wanted to figure out what that odd look was he gave Kayla.
