To Be A Captain's Wife Empty To Be A Captain's Wife

Post by XslvrstarX Thu Dec 07, 2017 3:24 pm

The past year and a half had been a complete blur for Emma. As the wife of a pirate captain her days were spent helping Silas command the ship. She had learned quickly and now knew enough to command the ship entirely on her own if the situation arose. She could read maps, read the stars, steer the ship, handle the rigging, and fight like the best of them. She was no longer the same noble woman Silas had held hostage all that time ago. She was now a strong, independent, and confident young woman. She held herself like the wife of a captain and had long since earned the respect of the ship's crew. They saw her as one of their own now and never questioned her authority. Emma's beauty had only seemed to grow as her strength and confidence soared. She had the kind of beauty that made men stop in mid conversation should she walk into a room. Their heads would turn to watch her as she walked past them. They would blush and whisper and wish she could be theirs. But she wasn't and never would be. She was the wife of Silas Mormont and was fiercely loyal to her husband. Many a men had tried to steer her into their beds, but Emma would quickly show them that she was not to be thought of as just an ordinary woman. Her reputation in the ports was growing and she would drink and gamble right along side her husband before they would retire to their lavish room and make love long into the night. Their passion and love for one another only grew stronger as time went by. A few fights had passed between them, but they had made up each time in a hot, passionate way and emerged as a strong couple.

Her legal husband, Nathan, the Duke of Cumberland, still remained heavy on her mind. She knew that he was still out there trying to find her, but she would never return to him. He had used her in his scheme and had never truly cared about her. She had been nothing more than a beautiful pawn in his game, but she could not fully hate him because had she not married him then she never would have found Silas. She and Silas (otherwise known as Angus Chapman) and met as children at her parent's estate. He had been a few years older than she, but she had been the one to teach him to swim. Now, they would swim together at their lagoon under the stars and moonlight and she silently had to thank Nathan for connecting her with the man she was supposed to be with. They had taken the loot off of several of Nathan's ships, but since that day when she had been kidnapped she had not seen Nathan. Rumors were circulating that he was looking for her and a huge reward had been posted for her safe return. Still she eluded his grasp.

It was very early one June morning and Emma lay wrapped in Sila's arms in their Port Royal hotel room. Several empty wine bottles lay on the floor along with their clothes. Emma became vaguely aware that someone was knocking on their door. Her eyes fluttered open and a quick glance at Silas told her he was still sound asleep. She managed to grab Sila's shirt and put it on. Thankfully, it was long enough to cover all of her private areas. She sleepily stumbled over to the door and opened it. Standing at the door was a messenger. He handed her a letter before departing. Emma walked back over to the bed and got back in, still wearing Silas' shirt, before beginning to open the letter.

To Be A Captain's Wife Empty Re: To Be A Captain's Wife

The last 18 months had been difficult for Silas. He had had to be hard on Emma and hard on his men when they tried to balk at accepting her as Captain. For several of those months before he had found a replacement to Captain the Gray Jackal, a modified sloop they had stolen from Port Gibson last fall, Emma had Captained that ship. It was always easier to capture a ship and fight off it's escort with 3 ships. Obtaining the Jackal and her Captain did just that. The faster and more maneuverable sloops were like wolves to the stag for the larger, slower galleons and frigates and a patient Captain could win the day if he or in this case, ‘She’ kept her mind straight about not having the guns or the girth to survive a close in melee. The sloops were outfitted with the larger guns but they didn’t have near as many. Emma had acquitted herself well, very well, but Captain Whallow, a thick-bodied, tattood, dark skinned Islander, had been almost as good. That and Silas liked having her near to hand, not on another ship.

The bounty for her return and his capture, dead or alive had steadily increased just as their notoriety or perhaps ‘infamy’ had. Woman Pirate Captain’s were extremely rare and Emma had a reputation to shoot first and ask questions after the smoke cleared. Men who mistook her for some flat-footed flip skirt, especially in front of the men quickly found the error in their ways if they survived to learn the lesson at all. To go with that, Emma was also known for being a very beautiful woman. Many men, common, pirate and noble alike had tried to finesse their way into her bed. Indeed Silas had used her during negotiations with Magistrates  and others who held positions of power to set them off guard enough to aid him in getting what he wanted. Emma would flirt or bring attention to herself at just the right moment and then Silas would end up getting most of what he wanted if not all. However that was as far as it went for Silas was a very good and generous lover and her husband besides.

Their relationship wasn’t always peaches and cream though. Just as legendary were their arguments. Often loud and sometimes quite physical, when strong disapproval or outright anger was involved they’d nearly come to blows as oft as not. There was always sweet making up after but they knew how to get under one another’s skin and did on many occasion. Port Royal was filled with ships this time of year. Pirates, trader Captains, Merchantmen and Naval ships from 3 different  countries filled the docks all around these Islands. Shore leave was long in coming and the 2 weeks they had spent off the ships had been a delight for all of the men as well as for himself and Emma as well he thought. Last night had been a huge street party and Silas had drank heavily all evening. Even so he hadn’t passed out until he had satisfied Emma. Even sleeping as he was she’s know it wouldn’t take much to get him ready for more of the same this morning. The bed was large and comfortable and all thought of that died as she read the letter written in a hand writing she recognized as her father’s.

Emma,
I don’t know if this will reach you or not. I had someone smuggle it out for me but I am hopeful that it finds you alive and well. Nathan has taken me captive and is holding me at his estate. I have become ill and god only knows if the medicines his doctor is giving me will make me better. I miss my daughter and wish you a long and happy life in the event I am gone.

Farewell my dearest,

Thomas

Emma immediately recognized her father's handwriting. While she had not had any physical contact with him since her kidnapping, she had written to her father to let him know she was alive and had explained to him everything that had happened. She would send her father money from her own cache to finish paying off his debts. She wanted him to be free of Nathan and live out the rest of his life in peace and security. Her relationship with her father had not always been perfect, but she did love him. And so when she realized that his life was suddenly in danger by none other than Nathan himself she became quite upset and distraught. She immediately jumped up and began to get dressed hastily.

"Silas...Silas! Wake up!"

Silas groaned as he felt Emma stir. He had a lot of rum last night and his head felt like someone was taking an iron skillet to it. He kept his eyes closed and winced at her loud, urgent words.

“Baby, can you not talk so loud?” He said as he brought a hand up to his head and winced. They had really enjoyed themselves last night. It had been a while since they had been able to sleep on a real bed and had a large room and good food and drink. Whenever they had shore leave Silas over indulged himself like he had last night.

Emma was dressing quickly and was practically frantic. She was never like this and Silas would know that something was very wrong. She threw the letter at him. "My father has been taken captive by that bastard Nathan. I have to go take care of this. Where the hell is my blouse?" She finally found it balled up in one corner of the room and began to put it on. She knew that this was all a set up to get her back, but she was willing to take the risk in order to help her father. While their relationship had never been perfect he was still her father and she did love him and knew that everything he had done had only been what he had thought was best for her.

Silas winced again and scowled at Emma as she was like a whirling dervish as she got dressed.

“Will you slow down!” He barked and his own voice sent another jolt of pain brought his head. He sat up and rolled out of bed. The quick movement made the world around him lurch and he staggered. “You know it’s a trap Emma. You can’t be that foolish to think it’s not. Nathan is a snake and if he told you that he has your father, obviously he wants you to try and get him,” he said as he grabbed hold of the bed post.

Emma whirled around to face Silas. Only half of her blouse was buttoned and her radiant, auburn hair was mussed from sleeping. She was angrier than a bear and it showed in her eyes, but even so she was still extraordinarily beautiful. "I'm not foolish! Of course I know it's a trap Silas. But my father wrote that letter...that's his handwriting and he's ill and I'm not just going to sit around and do nothing just because I know Nathan set this up! I'm going to kill that pig for what he did to me and now to my father."

Silas couldn’t help but smile at Emma. She only grew more beautiful when she was angry. Even though her hair was mussed she had that fire in her eyes when she was about to do violence. He loved that about her, that fierceness. He had preyed upon her at the beginning but now she was the hunter. No, a huntress he corrected. He looked around for his clothes and managed to find his pants and sat back down on the bed to snug them on. He had a lithe but strong musculature where his hip bone and stomach were 2 separate, distinct features. Pockets of lean muscle protruded out from his midsection though they seemed to band together when he bent over to slide his dark brown leather pants over his ankles. He spied a bottle of rum near his foot and he shifted to take it up and examine it. He jiggled it hopefully but it was completely dry. With disappointment in his face he tossed it aside and it rolled until it hit the nearby dresser leg.

His hair was mussed as well but it was just long enough so when he brushed it back with his fingers it fell back in a thick mass over his neck and onto his shoulders. He had several days of stubble on him and usually Emma shaved his face herself when they were on land. She usually did it in the bathtub while she straddled him.

“Well it is likely Nathan allowed his correspondence to leave his estate or likely you’d not be reading it. Which is also troubling, how in the hell did it find its way to you?” he asked. The rum was still befuddling his wits. An alarm of concern rolled around his brain but it was so muffled from his hangover he could barely even hear it.

With the port filled up with ships like this, with so many pirates and rapscallions, thugs, robbers and other unsavory types about, no force short of an army would ever even set foot here unless they wanted to become victims themselves. But the letter found Emma just the same. Her loud voice made his stomach lurch and he flung himself up and grabbed hold of her wrist. “So you will stop and give thought to that!” he growled angrily. Even now Nathan invaded their lives and Silas was getting quite tired of that!

To Be A Captain's Wife Empty Re: To Be A Captain's Wife

Emma's mind was clouded by her hangover. Her head throbbed, her mouth felt like cotton, and her stomach felt queasy. She was dehydrated and a range of emotions flowed through her as she thought about her father being held hostage by that...man and what he might be doing to him. Emma wasn't stupid. Far from it, and she knew that the fact that the letter had found her here meant that someone who knew them was probably in on this which was a problem in and of itself.

As Silas grabbed Emma's wrists she felt all of her anger leave her and be replaced by tears. Emma hadn't actually cried in well over a year. She knew that tears had no place on Silas' ship and did no good to anyone. But she couldn't stop these from appearing. She loved her father, despite their often strained relationship, and he didn't deserve this. She suddenly felt utterly helpless and desperate. Though the tears never actually fell, they shimmered in her eyes.

"Well what am I supposed to do Silas? I cannot just leave him there."

Silas was hard but he was also fair...most of the time and also soft and compassionate when he needed to be. He held Emma to him and put his arms around her. He wasn’t certain what they could do. Her father wasn’t one of their own as far as his men were concerned. This would need to be something they did or paid for in gold. Most pirates were mercenaries more or less. Extra gold in a man’s purse was almost always welcomed. That and a chance to do harm a noble and loot his home. For Silas's Part it smelled like a trap. One Emma could easily fall into if he denied her.

“We’ll figure it out darling,” he said and kissed her temple. “Don’t I always?” He assured her but had no plan at the moment. Nothing that made much sense anyway.

Emma let Silas put his arms around her and hold her to him. She closed her eyes and rested her head against his chest for a moment. Breathing in his scent she felt temporarily relaxed. While Silas was always hard towards his men, with her he could be gentle and compassionate. While most of their moments together involved either passionately yelling at one another or passionately making love...or both, there were also tender moments like these where their strong love for one another truly shone. However, this moment was short lived today as thoughts of Nathan once again filled her head. She pulled back from Silas and kicked at a chair in anger and frustration.

"When I get my hands on that man I am going to cut his balls off and feed them to rats!"
